The set-up of the bedrooms is a double with en suite bathroom and a twin room with en suite shower room on the first floor and a downstairs twin bedroom with en suite shower room. There is a double sofa bed in the lounge area and two additional fold-away beds if required.
Whilst we do not have air conditioning there are fans for each bed, and each side of the bed in the master room, as well as plenty of fans in the kitchen and lounge/dining room to help keep you cool in the summer months. For the cooler months we have gas heaters for the lounge/dining room and each of the bedrooms.
As parents of twins our farmhouse has a wealth of equipment including two travel cots, two high chairs, toys and a push chair. We also have a blender which could be made available if required. Following feedback from our guests, we have installed safety gates around the various stone staircases of the farmhouse to prevent accidents on the stairs.
|Further details outdoors|
The beauty of our farmhouse is the many outside areas including the roof top pool, sun terrace, central courtyard and a further sun terrace on the back of the lounge room, so there is always somewhere to enjoy the sun (or shade) as the day progresses. There is a plenty of outdoor furniture for you to take advantage of all these outdoor spaces.
Our roof top pool is 5 x 3m in size with a bench running along one side - although small it is perfect for cooling off or sitting on the bench reading. From a safety perspective we have full child-safety railings around the pool and a gate on the steps up to the pool.
We have a minimum booking period of 4 nights during low season and 7 nights during mid and high season.
To secure a booking we take a 25% deposit with the balance payable 1 month before the start of the holiday, we send a reminder for this.
Our rates quoted are on a weekly basis for up to 6 and up to 4 people and include all local taxes and the provision of a welcome pack on arrival of some basic food supplies including bread, milk, water, wine, tea and coffee.
The Island of Gozo region
Within a short distance of Xaghra (nowhere is more than 20 minutes away!) there are a wealth of things to see and do. You can while away your days at the beaches including Ramla Bay (the longest, sandiest beach on Malta), Hondoq (a mix of beach and rock swimming) and Marsalforn (mostly swimming off the rocks). Of historical significance is Victoria, the capital city of Gozo with its walled citadel or you can visit the fishing villages of Marsalforn and Xlendi to sample their many restaurants and simply watch the world go by.
For the more adventurous there are a wealth of dive schools which offer some excellent diving - not so many fish but you can go cave or wreck diving or there's the blue hole at Dwejra which is a really special dive. For those who like walking there are plenty of coastal walks to try and if you want to be really adventurous you could try cycling although the quality of the roads can make this a bit of a challenge.
From May through to September you will tend to get good summer weather with the temperatures in the mid 20s rising to the high 30s at the height of summer in August. Outside of these times the weather can be a little changeable and if it rains it can be very impressive - we're talking flooding and rivers of water running down the streets. Generally though even if it's not warm enough to sunbathe you will get clear, sun-kissed days.
The summer signals the start of the 'festa' season - village feasts characterised by their fireworks (day and night.!) and brightly lit churches and streets. Whilst you can often view the fireworks from the roof terrace it is well worth going to the actual village to see the whole event but be warned the fireworks are very loud!!
Xaghra is one of Gozo's larger villages and is well supplied with restaurants, bars, supermarkets and bakeries. In addition Xaghra has a number of historical sites, including the Ggantija Temples (a neolithic temple older than Stonehenge), all within walking distance of our farmhouse.
