A traditional yet spacious cottage - the perfect place to get away from it all. Set in its own garden with a stream along one side, this roomy, stone-built property offers comfortable, cottage-style accommodation in a tranquil setting - just half a mile from the Wye Valley itself.
The Abbey and local shops are only a short stroll down the valley whilst a network of woodland footpaths and tracks wait to be explored immediately from outside the front gate. The Wye Valley and nearby Forest of Dean offer fine walking and cycling, not to mention canoeing, rock-climbing and pot-holing for the more adventurous. The area offers a wonderful array of historic buildings and sites to be explored whilst it is justly famous for breathtakingly attractive scenery, birds and other wildlife and woodland flowers.

The Powys / Brecon Beacons / Monmouthshire region
Tintern lies in the heart of the spectacularly beautiful Wye Valley which forms the England-Wales border. Rightly it has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Combined with the adjacent Forest of Dean, this unspoilt area with glorious scenery offers superb facilities for walking, cycling, touring, birdwatching - or just relaxing away from the bustle of the modern world.
Yet it is surprisingly accessible: Angidy Cottage is just 15 minutes' drive from the motorway network, 35 minutes from the centre of Bristol or Cardiff and just over an hour from Birmingham.
Being located in the Welsh Marches, the area is steeped in history and places to visit
Wye Valley area
The ruins of Tintern Abbey are world-famous whilst the village also boasts its own vineyard (award-winning wines) and a 400 year-old ironworks and fascinating indutrial archaeology. The village amenities include several hotels, restaurants, cafes and pubs as well as shops selling local crafts, antiques - and an excellent secondhand bookshop.
Just 10 minutes away, Chepstow is an historic and delightful market town with its impressive bridges over the Severn and Wye rivers. Its castle is in a dramatical setting, high up on cliffs above the river. Chepstow Racecourse hosts the Welsh Grand National and there is excellent golfing alongside the Severn Estuary.
A delightful 20-minute drive up the Wye valley takes you to Monmouth. Being the birthplace of Henry V, this historic town is famous for its unique 13th century fortified bridge.
Raglan Castle and many other border castles are nearby and Abergavenny is just 30 minutes drive, set in the Black Mountains with the Brecon Beacons beyond.
How to get there
From Tintern, turn off A466 beside The Royal George Hotel. Follow the main road past The Cherry Tree Inn/Stores. Angidy Cottage is on the left hand side bounded by a post and rail fence. The entrance is a bridge over the stream.
