The East Anglia region
The Norfolk Broads is one of Britain’s National Parks; being the largest protected area of wetland amidst this area of outstanding natural beauty. The Broads are visited by over seven million people per year and there really is no shortage of things to see and do in this area.
Below is just a quick summary of some of the places to visit but you’ll find a whole host of ideas in our Stores Cottage ‘Out and About’ suggestion book.
Around 10 minutes away is Wroxham, a hub of the Norfolk broads. From here you can try your hand at boating down the gorgeous broads, mooring up and popping into the local pubs at Horning and Salhouse or do some bargain hunting at Roys department store.
If history, retail therapy and lovely restaurants are your thing then Norwich is well worth a visit. Norwich is 18 miles from Ludham and is a gorgeous city for a day out. From taking a look at the stunning cathedral to visiting the Chapelfields shopping centre as well as many individual boutique shops in the Norwich Lanes.
In under an hour you can take in the stunning North Norfolk coastline from Sheringham, Wells, Blakeney, Brancaster, Holcombe and market village such as Burnham Market and Holt.
Our cottage is based in the beautiful Broads village of Ludham which has many of its own facilities for you to benefit from.
From an impressive local store ‘Throwers’ with its own yummy deli and post office, the Kings Arms pub and restaurant (just yards away from the cottage), Al Fresco's tea rooms, florist, hairdressers, petrol station (where they even assist you with filling up the petrol tank!), butchers, church, doctors, plus our own budding mini Monet, 9 year old Keiron Williamson … the list goes on. Plus it also has its own staithe and boating quay so you can watch the boats come and go at your leisure.

"Lovely cosy cottage"
We had a wonderful New Year stay at Stores Cottage. Well furnished and with good quality linens, appliances and facilities we had everything we needed.

"Cosy cottage for short, cold and dark winter days."
A well appointerd, warm and comfortable cottage. Owners were helpful and welcome basket appreciated, as were directions and ease of accessing property. Location was fine for the Broadsand the coast, though did find many attractions had closed at the end of October. Consequently the attractions of the cottage were all the more appreciated for reading , and generally whiling away the hours.
The beds were particularly comfortable, the living room large and the kitchen well supplies for cooking. The bedrooms however are interlinked and may not suit all party combinations. Kitchen would be a tight squeeze for 4 adults eating and prparing a meal together. However this was not a problem for our party of 2. Parking was tight, and may be a problem for some. It would have been impossible to park 2 vehicles tin the allocated places and it was quite difficult reversing out of the parking. A smalll car may have less of a problem. Even allowing for these minor points the cottage was a pleasant lace to stay for a relaxing anniversary break. in a location very different from our very hilly Welsh valley home.

"An outstanding cottage in a lovely spot"
Stores Cottage is a lovely holiday rental in Ludham, Norfolk. We stayed there in the first week of August 2012, and were impressed by every aspect of our experience from booking to arrival, departure and everything inbetween. We are quite picky about holiday rentals and that's part of the reason that we don't often stay in them as they are sometimes rather sub-standard with cheap, flimsy furniture and - my personal bete noire - blunt kitchen knives and smoked glass saucepans to which everything sticks. No such problems awaited us at Stores Cottage which has been furnished and equipped to an extremely high standard. Booking with Lindsey was handled efficiently and we had a phone call just before the start of our stay to go through arrangements for picking up the key. As we entered through the back gate into the well-kept garden we knew we'd made a good choice. The cottage features a super rustic kitchen, comfortable lounge and two bedrooms. They are all beautifully furnished. The welcome hamper was stocked with bread, popcorn, jam, scones, wine, crisps, and chocolates. The fridge contained bacon, Anchor butter, and juice, while the caddies were filled with tea, coffee and sugar. What a welcome! Lindsey had kindly prepared a set of information on local attractions for our daughter to browse. All these personal touches got our stay off to a wonderful start. The kitchen has all the equipment one would need and more, fully stocked with quality pots and pans, cutlery, utensils, and oven-to-tableware - and sharp knives! The lounge provides a snug retreat. In the winter it must be brilliant with the wood burner going in the fireplace. Upstairs, the main bedroom is located at the top of the stairs on the gallery. Its contemporary furnishings looked really lovely in the rustic surroundings of the cottage, and bed was incredibly comfortable. The second bedroom was similarly very cosy and the bathroom was stocked with assorted toiletries for our stay. Cupboards were fully stocked with cleaning equipment, kitchen and loo roll, a drying rack, iron and other household essentials. There is a dishwasher and washing machine in the kitchen and a retractable washing line in the garden. We didn't really have the chance to sit out as we were busy and had a bit of rain during our week, but the garden would provide a lovely spot for an evening drink or outside meal. Trevor popped in part way through the week to do the bins and stop for a chat, and Lindsey offered a helpful text on a local festival which we might otherwise not have known about. Ludham itself is a pretty Broads village with many pleasant walks and cycle routes that start from the house. Norwich is not far and provides great shopping and sightseeing. The coast is also just a short drive. On departure we left our key in the key safe and loaded the car having had a really brilliant week at Stores Cottage. Overall I thought this was a great find and if I didn't live so far away in the west of Cornwall I would be back for a short break or another week long stay. The loveliness of the cottage really made our week. Greatly to be recommended.
