Wow, what a place to spend New Year, so different from the usual hustle and bustle of my regular New Year. The peace and tranquility of the place is unbelievable. We enjoyed uninterupted walks through the woodland, and my youngest son (2 years) had a fantastic time splashing in the stream and stamping on mole hills, that's the kind of stuff kids should be doing!! It really makes you appreciate the simple things in life and allows you to spend the quality time needed with your family, that is so difficult to get at home. The cottage itself is wonderful and oozes history from every corner. Everything you could ever need is provided, and the log burner creates a wonderful cosy evening for chats and games together. We can't wait to go back and do it all again. |

Knolton Mill is very special. As I drive down the little track to the cottage and hear the gentle rush of the stream, the breeze in the woodland trees, and finally the signal goes on my mobile phone, I know I am at peace and going to have a holiday. And I mean a true holiday, a holy period of time, a rare time these days ,where I really can get off the 'life bus' the relentless treadmill of being in touch, having to 'be' , having to 'do'. The cottage has all the comforts I need in order to sleep well, eat well, keep warm, and go for endless walks or just sit in the woodland, by the steam, or go and have a chat and a ponder with the Greenman. If you have a desparate urge to keep up with your emails on your various connected gadgets, forget it. If you need the nonsensical babble of tripe televison, forget it. If you want to clear your head, and write, read, draw, or just sit and be nothing, do nothing, then Knotlon Mill is indeed a very special place. |
