The stately front door - reminiscent of a bygone era - hints at the famous visitors that have been entertained here including Queen Mary and Winston Churchill who both thought of the house as the perfect weekend retreat. The welcoming interior of the entrance hall retains many original first class Victorian features. In the winter you will be greeted by the warmth of the open fire and in summer the light streams through the tall windows across the mellow wood floors.Mill View has recently been featured in 25 beautiful homes Magazine.
Crossing the entrance hall you enter the classically elegant dining room, onto the stunning Drawing Room and the impressive staircase hall with its mahogany paneling and stained glass windows and you will be swept off your feet in seconds.
Moving into the kitchen you have a more modern view – a luxury well equipped kitchen and glass atrium breakfast room – cleverly styled to retain the country house feel by making a feature of an old well and including a beautiful cream Aga cooker plus a large smeg cooker too.
The breakfast room opens through huge glass doors into a large family room – graced with another stunning fireplace, this room also has a large west facing window seat amazing views – equally appropriate for quiet reading and fantastic parties.
Just to top off that sense of being in a Victorian gentleman’s perfectly formed country estate there is even a pretty little garden room – just right for those early morning letters or tea in peace.
The rooms eminate Georgion style with high ceilings and sash windows and many period features. The spacious bedrooms are luxurious and are either super king or king size beds , with regards to sleeping arrangements we can offer flexibility and we also have a 1 gound floor bedroom suite . About this location
The Cotswolds region
Just west of London (90 minutes by rail or car), the Cotswolds is a hilly area around 100 miles (160km) north to south.
'Cotswolds' is a combination of two very old English words. Everyone's pretty much agreed that Wolds are gentle hills. And most people agree that 'Cots' are sheep enclosures. So 'Cotswolds' probably just means an area of gentle hills with plenty of sheep around.
The house is located on the outskirts of Wotton-under-edge and there are many attractions and facilities near by of which a few are listed below:
~ Riding locally with a large number of bridal ways
~ Woodland walks in National Trust areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty
~ Golf at excellent local club by prior arrangement.
~ Local pubs with excellent home cooked food and secluded locations
~ Westonbirt Arboretum which has an extensive programme of concerts and activities
~ Cheltenham, Bath and Bristol all within 40 minutes drive
~ Cheltenham and Bath both have good regional theatres & various literary and music festival
~ Bristol Hippodrome has a programme including the ballet, opera and West End shows
~ Many local houses of interest: Highgrove; Sudeley Castle; Chavenage; Dyrham Park; Woodchester Manor to name but a few.
~ Polo during the season at both the Beaufort and Cirencester Polo Clubs
~ Fishing and water sports at Cotswold water park
~ Badminton and Gatcombe horse trials
~ Kemble station is 20 minutes with London being 1 hour and 15 mins away – picks ups can be arranged.
~ Bristol airport is 28 miles with regional flights throughout UK & Ireland.

"A wedding weekend to remember – September 6th-8th 2012"
Wow, what a weekend! We arrived at Mill View Manor on Thursday 6th September to celebrate the wedding of our daughter and her fiancé. From the moment my daughter and I met Caz and viewed the house in January 2012 we knew it was the perfect place to host the wedding reception and we weren't disappointed. When we arrived on the Thursday before the wedding, we were welcomed by the housekeeper who showed us where everything was. She also helped us put away the huge delivery of shopping we'd pre ordered from the local Tesco's – there's plenty of storage and freezer space. The bedrooms were all delightfully prepared with flowers and toiletries in every room and Caz had very thoughtfully provided champagne, chocolates and a balloon for the bride and groom.
From the moment we arrived we had the most wonderful weekend helped by the best weather of the whole summer. All our guests arrived on Thursday evening and on the Friday made the most of the beautiful grounds, the swimming pool and the tennis courts. Although there were 28 of us staying in the house there was plenty of room for us all to spread out - we congregated mainly in the kitchen and adjoining sitting room – we all loved the huge widow seat! We didn't use the dining room at all and only used the drawing room as a back drop for some amazing wedding photographs.
The wedding day dawned very foggy, but this soon cleared and the day was warm and sunny. Following a beautiful ceremony in the local church, St Mary's, we enjoyed a champagne reception with canapés on the terrace followed by dinner and dancing in the marquee. All in all a fabulous day and weekend and it was with heavy hearts that we left the house on Sunday afternoon. However, we have so many beautiful memories and photographs of a magical weekend.
Overall, we were very happy with the house, but would agree with other reviewers regarding the number of showers available (especially on the second floor), although Caz had installed a new shower in the ground floor bathroom in time for our visit for which we were very grateful.
Thanks to Caz and her family and staff for a really fantastic weekend which we'll remember forever. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Mill View Manor for that special occasion – it's just fabulous!

"what a gem!"
We booked this venue for my 50th birthday prior to Christmas. We were looking for something that could accomodate a large group in a beautiful surrounding. We weren't disappointed! The house is exceptionally grand and befitted my guests very well. Mill house is well equipped and lends itself to a large group. There is plenty of seating areas, the dinning room is lovely although a bit of a squeeze to get round the outside when all seated. The bedrooms are all unique and very comfortable. The linen is of a good quality and there are some special touches like bathrobes and slippers in each room. The closer you move to the top of the house, it starts to look a little dated, but this did not distract from everyone being delighted and having a great time. We booked through Cazz - super efficient. We were met by Jackie the house keeper, who couldn't be nicer or more helpful. I would definately recommend this house as a special venue for any significant get together!

"Magical family Christmas"
We hired Millview Manor for a special Christmas family break this year and we certainly weren't disappointed. Even the terrible wet weather couldn't spoil a wonderful week of log fires, carols by the piano, classic movies in the cinema room, cosy chats by the aga, lazing in sumptuous reception rooms, sleeping in enormous comfy beds and losing each other in a house that was big enough to give each other space, but still very much a family home. The service we received right from the point of booking was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble - even our Waitrose shopping was carefully unloaded and put away. The house was beautifully decorated with several Christmas trees and lots of festive touches. On Christmas Eve we hired caterers and spoiled ourselves with a special black tie party - Downton Abbey had nothing on us! There were eighteen of us at the table on Christmas Day and the kitchen was big enough to allow everyone to share in the cooking and the clearing up. When we did decide to leave the house (which wasn't often) it was only a short walk into the village with its pretty high street and friendly local pubs. It was difficult to leave at the end of the week and we hope that we will return one day. I would thoroughly recommend Millview Manor for a very special, memoriable family Christmas.

We stayed in the house the last weekend of July, a group of 19 friend with 11 children which is a reunion we do each year. The house is absolutely lovely as are the grounds and views. We spent most of our time by the pool or in the great family room by the kitchen overlooking the gardens. The children loved the heated pool, games room and tennis court. Cazz was very helpful at every stage of the booking, even putting away the mountain of shopping supplies that we had delivered. I would definately recommend it and plan to return in the future, it was difficult to leave!

"Fabulous Stay, Beautiful Decor, Perfect for Groups"
I hired the house for my birthday celebrations with 22 other friends. We had an amazing weekend. The setting was stunning and the house is vast with large bedrooms and plenty of space. We spent most of our time in the kitchen/dining area which led to a huge living room over looking the Cotswolds. The heated swimming pool was an great and the sauna was an added bonus. Through the ownerCazz's recommendation, we worked with a local catering company to provide in-house catering on Saturday evening which did not disappoint. They came to the house, decorated the formal dining room and then served us a 3 course meal. Hiring the house was an expensive treat, and its not something that you can do on a regular basis, but Cazz was lovely throughout and helped with all my queries. Its her family home, and she lives there with her children through the week, so there are lots of family photos and ornaments around - I'd not recommend this lovely home for a heavy weekend of hard-core partying, but we loved it for its opulence, space and functionality. We also had a lot of fun!
