The Central England/Cotswolds region
The Cotswolds are famous for their gentle rolling landscape and beautiful towns and villages which offer so much to the tourist. It is not surprising that Prince Charles and Princess Anne have decided to make their homes in the area (Tetbury and Gatcombe respectively) and that celebrities including Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant, Kate Moss and many others have settled in the area.
Besides the smaller villages which all have their own unique character there are also the larger cities of Bristol, Bath, Cheltenham and Gloucester which provide numerous options for visitors to the area.
Wotton Under Edge
The area around Wotton-under-Edge is ideal for those liking country walks and beautiful scenery. North Nibley which is on the Cotswold Way has the Tyndale Monument high on the hill overlooking the village and the Severn Vale. The Monument commemorates William Tyndale who translated the bible from Latin into English and was burned at the stake for his trouble. On a clear day the view from the monument takes in the Welsh coast and the two Severn crossings and it is said that one can see seven counties.
Nearby are Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust, Berkeley Castle (scene of the murder of Edward II), Westonbirt Arboretum and numerous stately homes and National Trust properties are within a half-hour drive.
An annual music festival takes place in North Nibley and it was also the venue for a steam rally which has now relocated to Berkeley (the place where Edward Jenner developed the vaccine for Smallpox). Berkeley is also the location of Cattle Country Adventure Park which provides hours of fun for all ages.

"Great place to stay"
I chose and booked Burrows Court for a weekend get-together last month with a group of close friends and their children. I'm a little ashamed that it has taken so long for me to get round to writing a review, as I always find it helpful to read those of other people.
The property met and exceeded our expectations. I was first to arrive and was welcomed and given a very thorough tour of the house by the owner. It was immediately apparent that we had everything we might possibly need. What set this property apart from many others that we looked at (including some that were much more expensive) was that every bedroom had its own en-suite bathroom, which is a massive plus. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped, with much more than the bare minimum for 12 people. There were lots of useful extras, such as tupperware in various sizes for picnics and ice-packs in the freezer.
We hardly used the two sitting rooms as we were blessed with beautiful weather throughout our stay. The lawn in front of the house was a great space for the children to play and the adults to relax and have most of our meals, We made good use of the barbecue and the two very sturdy picnic tables provided. We all wished that we had been able to stay for a week, rather than just a weekend.
Would definitely choose to return to this house if we organise another reunion.

"Excellent character property in a stunning location central to endless holiday activities."
The ensuite facilities to every bedroom went down really well with the three generations of our family, as did the large garden for the younger children (and the dog!). It was great for us all to be able to eat together and celebrate a birthday in the large kitchen. The immediate area has plenty of potential for walkers and the local villages have excellent pubs and restaurants to choose from. We found plenty of activities to suit all ages without having to travel too far and had a really great week.

"Great holiday house"
I stayed at BC for Easter weekend with a group of friends. The property was excellent for our group and the kitchen was well equipped. The owner was very welcoming and we had a lovely weekend. It is a short drive to the local shops but it was lovely to be able to go out walking straight from the house.

"Great Place for a Get Away"
This is the perfect place to have a relaxing break with friends or family. All the bedrooms were a good size and each had an en suite which was a real bonus. We did quite a lot of cooking and the ki… More
