1151 - Cheviot View
About the home
Cheviot House is located on the outskirts of Chatton. It is a cottage, built in stone, situated at the end of a terrace. It has been restored and converted with great sympathy and has been decorated to a very high standard. For those colder winter months, you can warm yourself at the end of the day in front of the open fire in the living area. In the summertime, the south-facing garden provides a great environment in which to have a barbeque or a glass of wine as the sun goes down. Cheviot House has off-road parking for up to 2 cars and is only 10 miles from Northumbria’s beautiful coastline.

The Northern England / Northumberland region
Northumbria is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian’s Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife. Covering 400 square miles, the Northumberland National Park is the least populated of England’s National Parks, much to the benefit of those visitors seeking peace and solitude. Thousands of paths and tracks weave their way through beautiful countryside, providing exhilarating fresh air and wide-open spaces for walkers and cyclists alike.
Stay a while, roam the countryside but don’t forget to explore further, because the area known as Northumbria offers much more than just the National Park. Northumbria encompasses County Durham, the Tees Valley and Tyne and Wear, as well as covering the North Pennines ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, the World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall, the City of Durham and the Heritage Coastline, boasting a selection of protected golden beaches and tiny fishing villages. Northumberland’s Heritage Coast has mile upon mile of sparkling beaches, rocky coves and picturesque fishing villages.
Sweeping from Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north, to Druridge Bay in the south, popular destinations along the coastline include the horseshoe-shaped sandy beach and dunes at Beadnell Bay, the bustling village of Seahouses, with boat trips from the picturesque harbour, and the kipper smokery and coastal path at Craster. Adding to the area’s splendour is a chain of magnificent castles: Alnwick, home to the powerful Percy family and the setting for some of the Harry Potter films; spectacular, medieval Bamburgh, standing high on its rocky outcrop; the brooding ruins of Dunstanburgh and pretty Warkworth.
The Wooler / Chatton area
It is located in the valley of the river Till, near to the beautiful Cheviot Hills. The present church at Chatton is the Anglican Holy Cross church but the original Norman dates to the 12th Century. The new church was built in the Gothic style after the original was burned. A large stone coffin was discovered in 1814 believed to hold the remains of a follower of Robert the Bruce. Not far from Chatton is Fowberry Tower, a 15th-century structure built originally for defence during the lawless border raids. It is to be found on the banks of the river Till and is set in parkland with notable specimens of a variety of trees. Slightly further afield, you will find other attractions, such as Lindisfarne and Howick Hall gardens.

,Cheviot View was well furnished, the double bed was particularly comfortable. It was nice to have two two-seater sofas for evenings in. The fire was easy to deal with and very welcome on the cool evenings. The kitchen was of good quality and all appliances were simple to use.
