9 bedrooms sleeping 18. Or use bedroom2 in The Buttery as snug / retreat / TV room / reading room with sofa, leaving you with 8 bedrooms comfortably sleeping 16. Restored to being two large houses in a terrace. Sea views from front balconies of both houses and from The Buttery's rear sun terrace. Carefully restored and modernised in 2011 by architect-owner. Ideal for large families or groups of families. Perfectly located near shore & moor in the wonderful village of Mortehoe, near fabulous coastal paths, moorland walks, golf, local swimming beaches and Woolacombe surfing. Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Unesco Biosphere reserve, conservation area, surrounded by National Trust farmland.

DRIVING: for SatNav the house's exact coordinates are 51.18449,-4.20927. Or use the postcode EX34 7DX to get to Mortehoe and you'll find The Buttery and Cromlech House opposite the Chichester Arms pub.
Directions from M5:
At junction 27, take the A361 exit to Tiverton/Barnstaple (0.3 mi)
At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto A361 heading to Barnstaple/Tiverton/Halberton/Sampford Peverell
Go through 2 roundabouts (25.6 mi)
At N Aller Roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto A399 (14.3 mi)
Turn left onto Long Ln/A3123 (2.8 mi)
Turn left onto A3123 (4.1 mi)
At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto B3343 (1.8 mi)
Turn right onto Mortehoe Station Rd
When you get to Mortehoe Village follow the road when it bends left at the church. The Crescent is the terrace on the left just after the Chichester Arms pub.
There is a private parking space right outside the house, and Mortehoe public car park is a minute's pleasant walk away through the village.
Buses pass the house (Woolacombe-Barnstaple). National Cycle Rouse 27 is also directly outside the house. Nearest rail station: Barnstaple. Airports: Exeter, Bristol. Driving: M5, North Devon Link Road.

FLYING:
flybe.com flies to Exeter from many UK and international airports. Mortehoe is is 90 mins drive from Exeter, or take Exeter-Barnstaple train.
Bristol Airport is 2hrs 15 mins drive from Mortehoe.

TRAIN:
Take train to Exeter, at Exeter change to charming Tarka Line train to Barnstaple. From Barnstaple take taxi or bus to Mortehoe.

BUS: There is a bus route connecting Mortehoe to Barnstaple.

CYCLE: National Cycle Route 27 passes directly outside the house.

“Beautiful retreat” * Great houses - both looked lovely, we're pristinely clean and well equipped * Great location - just up the road from Woolacombe in the beautiful village of Moretoe. The village is small and quaint but has a lovely local pub, little tea room and shop very close by * Great service - David was very responsive and incredibly helpful throughout the process. I would definitely come again!

“Two properties together, the perfect way to enjoy a large family holiday!” It was clear that the holiday would go well as we were told absolutely everything we needed to know about the property by Dominic who was so attentive before, during and after the stay, right down to sorting out parking permits and sending us a book on the beach for the children before our arrival.Great pair of houses which gave loads of sleeping and living space but a kitchen big enough for 12 of us to eat in comfortably as we tended to spend time more in one house than another.Both houses lovely. Excellent to have a landline to use as the mobile reception is dodgy and the wifi meant that we could all keep up to date with emails on the ipads.Really to be recommended.

“Beautiful mortehoe” Our group consisted of 12 couples and 14 children, both the buttery and cromlech house were perfect for us. Extremely high quality accommodation was coupled with great communication with the owner. Mortehoe is a truly beautiful place and one which I would very much love to visit again. I would thoroughly recommend this property to others. Simply fantastic! Response: Clarification: the group consisted of 12 adults and 14 children, not 12 couples and 14 children! The Crescent (The Buttery plus Cromlech House) has 9 bedrooms. :) dom

“Excellent accomodation and location” Lovely 5 bedroomed accomodation with large kitchen excellent cooking facilities and nice large eating area. Excellent location in small village but minutes walk away from lovely clifftop walks, National Trust Land and large sandy beach and town of Woolacombe, great for kids with plenty of coves and rockpools to explore. Property easy to book - great information provided on local amenities and maps/information on area in house itself brill. Within very close proximity are three pubs, restaurant, fish & chip shop and village stores. Both the Chichester Arms & Ship Aground serve excellent food but the meal we all had at the Ship was one of the best we have ever had, also excellent fish & chips from chippy and local produce from village stories including great cornish pasties - my son said best ever. The coastal walks are second to none and a must for any walker and the accomodation/location represents a great holiday and I would recommend a visit even out of season. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed the stay as well particulary the walks which are plentiful and varied, loads of different routes and circular walks, nice other beaches nearby including Croyde and huge beach at Saunton.
