LEE BAY GRANGE
About the home
LEE BAY GRANGE OVERVIEW -
Part of a large manor house, LEE BAY GRANGE is a 2 bedroom first floor apartment in Lee Bay, a picturesque coastal village surrounded by dramatic coastline. Nestled in the 'Fushia Valley' Lee Bay lies hidden below the magnificent Lee Abbey, on the Exmoor coast, just two miles east of Woolacombe. There is a wonderfully secluded beach and when the tide goes out an expanse of sand emerges from among the rocks, with many rock pools, a delight for children. The village has a traditional old North Devon pub, 'The Grampus Inn', with home made food, and Devonshire cream teas can be enjoyed in traditional tea rooms. Access to the coastal footpath takes walkers to stunning rugged scenery all year round, and Croyde and Putsborough are just a short drive away. This apartment, sleeping 4, is bright and open plan, with panoramic views over the well-manicured manor garden.

The West Country / Devon region
The North Devon Coast
For spectacular scenery and beautiful beaches whatever the season, there's no better place in England than North Devon coast and in particular Croyde. The beaches are recognised as possibly some of the finest and cleanest in Europe - with two miles of soft golden sand, plenty of rock pools and amazing surf.
The coastline is as rugged as it is beautiful dotted with magnificent cliffs, tiny cove and picturesque harbours. It was once the haunt of smugglers, pirates and wreckers and the fascinating history is retold in many small museums along the coast. Today visitors who love Henry Williamson's famous Tarka the Otter can retrace Tarka's journey by following the Tarka Trail.
Croyde is ideally located within easy reach of the harbours of Clovelly and Lynmouth which are also perfect places to relax. Meander through the streets of Lynmouth and take a ride on the unique water powered cliff railway to the twin town of Lynton which is perched high on the cliffs. Clovelly is another of the prettiest coastal village where it feels as if time stood still. The only means of transport on these famous cobbled streets are donkeys and sleds.
Along the coastline surrounding a natural harbour is Ilfracombe with its Victorian architecture, Esplanade and famous Tunnels Beach. The harbour is always busy with fishing boats sailing in and out together with the paddle steamer Balmoral which offers day trips to Lundy Island. North Devon has something to offer and appeal to everyone, take time to come and find out for yourselves, we will make you very welcome.
Picturesque Lee village offers one easy access, to the Blue Flag Beaches of Woolacombe, Putsborough and Croyde to the South. To the North of the village and a short drive away, is Victorian Ilfracombe. Inland are some outstanding Golf Courses, multiple heritage sights and the market town of Barnstaple.
The Woolacombe / Lee area
WALK TO - For ramblers and walkers, Morte Point is worth the climb, with stunning views of the Bay and out to Lundy Island. Exmoor National Park is only a short distance away, and has numerous heather-strewn pathways and wooded valleys to explore, whether on foot or on horseback.
CYCLE TO - National Cycle Network, Devon Coast Route 27. This is a wonderfully scenic circular route on the North Devon coast with a link that allows a start and finish in nearby Ilfracombe, and takes in two superb traffic free sections, the National Trust coast route beside the sea at Woolacombe Sands and the former railway path from Ilfracombe to Willingcott Cross. The remainder is along attractive minor roads through quiet villages and rolling Devon farmland.
DRIVE TO - Lee Bay offers easy access to the Blue Flag Beaches of Woolacombe, Putsborough and Croyde and is a short drive away from Victorian Ilfracombe. Inland are some outstanding Golf Courses, multiple heritage sights and the market town of Barnstaple. Explore the beautiful Exmoor National Park. Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, The Milky Way and The Big Sheep are all within a short driving distance. Spend a quiet day on protected Hele Bay beach. Cultural days can be passed at Arlington Court, historic Clovelly Village, Watermouth Castle, Lynton, Lynmouth, Mortehoe (mentioned in the Doomsday Book) and many more. Willingcott Golf Course is a mere 3 miles down the road. Finally, picturesque walks through beautiful forested areas and running rivers such as at Watersmeet will complete your wonderful stay in this beautiful part of England.
