Delightful fully furnished 3 bedroom short let in Thrupp, Oxfordshire with all utilities included and weekly linen change. Fully equipped for a short or long stay.

Canal Road is a charming property just a stones throw away from the canal in a delightful village called Thrupp, nestled between Woodstock and Kidlington, both with a wealth of shops and restaurants to choose from, not to mention historical Blenheim Palace and grounds. Thrupp itself has two lovely pubs, The Boat Inn and The Jolly Boatman, just a few minutes walk away and both with high quality menus including the traditional Sunday roast. Annies Tea room can be found just over the bridge, serving light lunches, tea and coffee and, most importantly, her famous Sumptuously Sinful Simnel cake. Lovely on a sunny day while watching the world (and boats go by).

The cottage was completely re-furbished and modernised to a high standard by the current owners offering guests a historical experience with all the benefits of modern living. Originally built around 1750 Canal Road is one of a terrace of historical cottages just 6 miles from Oxford and 29 miles from Banbury and on the edge of the Cotswolds region. Thrupp is ideally located for an individual or family looking for a base to stay in the Oxford area from one week to several months.

The entrance to the cottage is off a quiet side road and the main door leads into the living room. The living room is furnished with a 3 seat sofa, sofa chair, gas-fired 'log-burner' and built-in bookshelves and cupboards. The living-room flooring is carpeted.

The living room is connected to the kitchen-dining room at the rear of the cottage (mind your head when you step up into the kitchen!). The kitchen has been refitted with lovely country cottage style work units and work top. There is ample work space to prepare meals for a family and you will find the kitchen fully equipped with standard cooking equipment and utensils. There is a washer-dryer, dishwasher, electric oven/hob, fridge freezer and microwave oven. The kitchen floor is tiled and easy to keep clean. The dining area is offset from the kitchen with an oak dining table and six dining chairs.

The stair case to the first floor leads from the living room and the staircase is carpeted. Upstairs you'll find three comfortable bedrooms consisting of a main, double bedroom and two single rooms with windows overlooking the canal.

The bathroom is stylish and modern with bath and high quality shower over the bath, wash basin and counter units for storage. The cottage has a rear garden which is a quiet space to enjoy the sounds of the surrounding countryside.

The Oxfordshire region

Thrupp is 2km from Kidlington, 4km from Woodstock, 12km from Oxford, and 25km from Banbury. Junction 9 of the M40 is just 10 minutes drive and Junction 8 is 15-20 minutes drive. The cottage is tucked away along a quiet road just off the A4260 which is a main road leading from Banbury into Oxford.

Woodstock

The nearest shops are in the village of Kidlington which is 2km away with supermarkets, chemist and other shops and restaurants. The town of Woodstock is 4km away and one of the most pleasant and historically famous towns on the edge of the Cotswolds. In the town of Woodstock you can enjoy excellent shopping, fine dining at the Feathers hotel and restaurant and typically English pubs. You can also spend many days exploring the picturesque scenes of Blenheim Palace. There are two pubs in Thrupp within 3 minutes walk, both serving British pub food and frequented by the many passing holiday makers enjoying life on the Oxford Canal. The canal runs parallel with the River Cherwell which is a major tributary into the Thames. There are many picturesque walks along the canal and river which allow you to enjoy some of the best scenery of the Oxfordshire countryside, all within easy reach of the city of Oxford.

"Cute, over-equipped, peaceful, british... one of the best I've been all over Europe"

If the photos are nice, the reality is even better!!. One of those houses you are willing to arrive at, after a whole day of tourist visits, to rest and enjoy of. Super clean, super comfortable, super British, with this fantastic backyard. A big, cute and over-equipped kitchen with all the devices and cooking accessories you may imagine (even with an italian/spanish style coffee heater!). With enough room to host five persons, there's a big and easy to set folded double bed at the living room. And the surroundings are lovely and peaceful, with this canal for narrow boats in front of the house where you can go for a relaxing walking. High speed WiFi, HD TV (screen not too large) with DVD, large screen TV in one of the bedrooms. There's a private parking bay just in front of the house, so no worries with your car. The communication with the property was fluid and easy. The only problem was that the system rejected my credit card (despite fully operative) and I had to pay through bank transfer.
