Situated in the New Forest National Park , Purlins offers spacious, Non-Smoking, Self-Catering holiday accommodation for couples in the annexe of a picturesque converted coach house and stables. It is situated in the village of Woodlands, within 200 metres of “open” New Forest, yet easily accessible from the M27 or A35. New Forest Tourism Association (NFTA) "Quality Assessed"
It is ideally situated for exploring the area on foot, by bike or by car, being only 4 miles from Lyndhurst, the “capital” of the New Forest. Yet the waterfront city of Southampton, which has a main line station, theatre, shopping and leisure complex, is only 6 miles away.
As well as the New Forest on the doorstep, with its wealth of attractions, the historic Portsmouth Dockyards including the new "Mary Rose" Museum, Winchester, Bournemouth, Salisbury, and the Isle of Wight are all within easy reach for day visits.
Whether you are seeking a relaxing “get away from it all break” or an active sightseeing tour of the area , Purlins could be just the place for you!
For a car free holiday, Ashurst (New Forest) railway station is just a mile away and bikes can be carried on board. We can also collect guests from the station. There is a 2 hourly bus service from Totton and the Open Topped Summer Tour Bus stops close by.
The self-contained holiday ground floor annexe has off road parking and its own private entrance via a south facing garden path and patio. This opens into a spacious bedroom with a King size bed and triple aspect views of the garden. The large open plan living/dining room has an archway entrance into a well equipped kitchen, containing a fridge/freezer, microwave, double electric oven and gas hob. If cooking is not high on your holiday agenda there is a good selection of pubs and takeaways in the area! A small hallway leads to a bathroom with bath/electric shower, toilet and basin. There is a TV/DVD in the living room and the bedroom.
Good quality bed linen and towels, gas and electricity are included in the price.
Regrettably no dogs due to resident Border Collie - Josie and cats - Sheba and Pixie
Summer season June -October letting is on a weekly basis with the change over day as Saturday. Short breaks would only be taken "last minute" during this period. Outside of this period short breaks are offered with a minimum of 3 nights and a flexible start day.

About this location
The Hampshire region
The New Forest is England's smallest National Park situated on the south coast of England covering 220 square miles, between Southampton and Bournemouth. Protected since William the Conqueror discovered the deer filled heathland, pretty glades and wild wood over 900 years ago. A place to enjoy a break from the frantic pace of life, where the ponies, donkeys and cattle still roam free. A haven for the cyclist, walker and horse rider. There are award winning gardens, museums and historic houses plus a coastline renowned for it's sailing. Picturesque villages provide cosy tea shops and there is a wide range of choice for eating and drinking from traditional English pubs to sumptuous evening meals in award winning restaurants.
Woodlands, New Forest
Purlins is in the village of Woodlands only 200 metres from the "open" forest where the animals freely roam. It is ideally situated for exploring the area on foot, by bike or car, being only 4 miles from Lyndhurst the "capital" of the New Forest. As well as the Forest on the doorstep, with its wealth of attractions, the historic Portsmouth Dockyards, Winchester, Salisbury, Bournemouth and the Isle of Wight are all within easy reach for day visits. Southampton, with its theatre and shopping and leisure complex is only 6 miles away.
For car free eating and drinking there is a village pub and two hotels with restaurants- one with a michelin star and one with an AA rosette within walking distance.
