SUFFOLK'S SECRET. COSY HOLIDAY COTTAGE CLOSE TO THE RIVER DEBEN IN WALDRINGFIELD

IVYDENE is a stylish luxury cottage, close to a sandy beach, boating, golf, cycling and good walks.

It is just five miles from Woodbridge. Sleeping four people in one double room and a twin bunk room. A cosy living room with fireplace leads through to an open plan kitchen and dining area. The modern kitchen is light and airy and the perfect place to share a meal looking out to the garden.

The approach from the private car park at the rear of the property leads into the back garden and patio, then through the French Doors into the kitchen / living area and forward into the cosy sitting room, where there is an open fire and room to relax. The two bedrooms are equipped with 100% cotton bed linen and share a “Jack and Jill” bathroom with a full size bath and shower overhead.

IVYDENE is 40 meters from the River Deben where boating activity can be enjoyed or watched from the waterside, or visit The Maybush Inn where excellent food is available both on the terrace overlooking the Deben or inside. There are also lovely riverside walks,

Nearby is historic Woodbridge, a town of great character with the famous Tide Mill & Buttrams windmill. Sutton Hoo is on the opposite river bank. Snape Malting's concert hall & Framlingham Castle 30 miles by car. Southwold & Aldeburgh, Orford, 45 miles.

Orford Ness Take a 7 mile cruise on the “Regardless” to this remote shingle spit and discover an incredible landscape littered with clues of past secrets and Britain's secret military history.

Snape Maltings. Regular daytime and evening concerts are very popular, Booking is essential. http://www.aldeburgh.co.uk/events also there are award winning local shops, restraunts and beautiful riverside walks.

Aldeborough, Kids love the mini boating lake at Aldeburgh (you can buy wooden boats in the local shops for about £7 or take your own!) plus the boating lake at Thorpe Ness (rowing boats for hire) plus different islands on the mere to investigate - it's fab on a sunny day, loads of swans and ducks to follow too! The castle at Orford is fun too. Don't miss the fish and chip shop or the old-fashioned tea shop on the high street. Have fun! You mustn't miss the fish and chip shop in the High Street.

Southwold this a wonderful destination at any time of the year. With its working lighthouse, beach huts, award-winning pier, busy harbour, cliff top cannon and of course the sandy beach, Southwold is a quintessentially English resort town

Flatford and Dedham Vale. made famous by John Constable and his paintings. Visit Bridge cottage to learn more about him and take a rowing boat on the Stour. Dine at the excellent Riverside Restaurant (booking advised).

Bourne Mill near Colchester. Built for banqueting and converted into a mill this is a delightful piece of late Elizabethan playfulness.

Melford Hall. Sudbury. explore the family home of the Hyde Parkers, a fine Elizabethan manor house destroyed by fire in 1942 and lovely restored by the family who still live there. View cousin Beatie's (Beatrix Potter's) wonderful illustrations.

Lavenham. This beautifully preserved medieval village with a Guildhall is one of the finest timber framed buildings in the country.

Woodbridge

Farm shop. In New Road Newbourne 01473 736407. (3 miles) Monday 10.00 am to 3.00 pm. Tuesday to Sunday 9.30 am to 5.00 pm. for home grown and locally sourced seasonal produce.

Simply Food M&S and Tesco (ATM machine) are off the A12 at Martlesham.

Mobile shop. Next to the village Hall at the top of the hill. Every Wednesday 11.00 am to 1.00 pm. Sells most basic commodities - fruit, vegetables, bread, milk and toiletries, kitchen cleaners, jams and more.

Short Walk. Go up Cliff Road. Turn right into Sandy Lane. At the bend take foot path on the right to the estuary. Turn right at estuary along the waterside foot path to Waldringfield boat yard and back home. There are many other walks in the area.

Boat trips and Hire from the Quay. Mark at the boatyard operates 2 hour cruises on the Jahan most days from early Spring to late September. Booking is essential 01473 736260 www.debencruises.com

Bike hire is available at the Low Farm camp site. Walk up Cliff Road and right into School Road to the edge of the village and the Campsite.
