Serena Cottage, nr Woodbridge IDEAL WINTER BREAK
from £45 /night help
Cottage | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
Just ten minutes from the elegant market town of Woodbridge, Shottisham is a traditional Suffolk village and Serena Cottage sits right at its heart. Painted in traditional 'Suffolk Pink', the house has ample private parking and a small, secluded back garden. Inside there are period features such as wooden beams, exposed brickwork, winding staircase and wood burner. Ideal for a couple looking to experience the charm and tranquility of the area.
Shottisham's thatched Sorrel Horse pub - a former smugglers' inn - is one of the prettiest in the county. It is community owned, serves good food and fine ale and hosts regular entertainment.
To experience the county's unspoilt coastline you only need head 3 miles east, whilst picture perfect resorts such as Aldeburgh, Walberswick and Southwold are all an easy drive away. For nature lovers, the RSPB reserve along the beach at Minsmere is a must. The famous port of Felixstowe lies south over the Deben, a beautiful river that meanders past quaint waterside pubs in Ramsholt and Waldringfield, then through to Woodbridge with its famous Tide Mill.

The East Anglia region
East Anglia is a region of tradition, culture and charm. The pace of life might be slower but that doesn't mean there isn't plenty to do, from exploring the natural beauty of its heritage coastline to shopping in historic market towns such as Ipswich, Colchester and Bury St Edmunds. Lovers of the arts can visit attractions as varied as John Constable's home town of Dedham, Snape Maltings concert hall and the Latitude Music Festival. With its flat landscape, Suffolk is especially perfect for walking and cycling too.
The Suffolk Coast is arguably the most beautiful part of East Anglia. Head north from Woodbridge and you'll discover Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, Dunwich, Walberswick and Southwold - unspoilt seaside towns and villages that have influenced writers as varied as Benjamin Britten and Richard Curtis. Shottisham itself offers you everything you'd want from a peaceful and traditional village: thatched pub, woodland walks and beautiful scenery. There are a host of outdoor activities on offer nearby or you could just stay in the cottage and cosy up by the wood burner or relax in the sunny garden room...
