The village of Wittersham is situated between Rye and Tenterden lying on the high ground of the Isle of Oxney, which at an earlier time was surrounded by water. The Danes were said to have occupied this area as long ago as 892 and the village sign today incorporates a Danish Longship. Today the village is surrounded by unspoilt countryside and boasts an attractive 13th century church and a traditional village pub, perfect for a stopover after a leisurely country stroll. There is a thriving village market every week selling local produce and the nearby Stocks Mill is worth a visit. The mill is the largest of its type in Kent and was restored with a Lottery Grant in 2004. It is now open to the public on summer Sunday afternoons.

Previously an old pool house this delightful cottage has been has been transformed to offer lovely holiday accommodation. The cottage has been decorated and furnished in calm colours whilst retaining its rustic charm with original exposed wooden beams and offering a fabulous wood burning stove for use during those wintry breaks.

Prospect Cottage is surrounded by fields and beautiful countryside. The local Vineyards at Chapel Down produce a variety of excellent wines and are well worth a visit to sample their selection of wines and visit their superb restaurant. There are many local walks, restaurants and pubs to be visited during your stay as well as larger landmarks and National Trust Properties. For tennis buffs, there is use of a tennis court at the owners discretion (just remember to use non marking tennis shoes). Perfect for a countryside holiday or short break at any time of year.

Wittersham is situated between Rye and Tenterden on the B2082, lying on the high ground of the Isle of Oxney, which at an earlier time was surrounded by water. The Isle of Oxney has wonderful views of unspoiled rolling countryside.

In the village there is an attractive 13th century church - St John the Baptist and one remaining traditional pub The Swan, serving real ale. On Tuesday mornings there is a community market.

Stocks Mill, about one mile away from Wittersham on the B2082 is a fine example of a post mill, being built in 1781, the largest of its type in Kent. The white-weatherboarded mill is thought to have been moved from another site. Although the mill is no longer in production it is open to the public on Sunday afternoons in the Summer.
