A luxury Kentish oak barn, a fabulous holiday retreat between Tenterden and Rye

The Vineyard House nearly lost for good has been lovingly restored to provide a comfortable stylish holiday home. Oak floors throughout and a mixture of modern and antique furniture has given the property a luxury feel. The property has four luxury bedroom suites all with their own bathrooms, a large family dining room, which can comfortably sit ten, a kitchen area and a large entertainment room with home cinema and a piano. It has stunning views of the local vineyard and open countryside and a lawned garden to enjoy on those balmy sunny evenings. If those evenings turn chilly, why not warm yourself by the wood burner, which gives this property a country cottage charm.

The property has one bedroom suite on the ground floor and the further three can be reached by the grand oak staircases. The Dove suite is beautifully presented and has a Queen's size four poster bed and an out look on to the vineyards. The Kingfisher Suite has an easterly outlook and although set out as a twin the beds can be joined to make a King size bed if requested. It has it own shower room. The Swallow suite is a twin room, with its own private shower and has amazing views westerly, where amazing sunsets can be enjoyed. The Woodpecker suite has its own bathroom and King size bed, with the added treat of a private balcony, where you can enjoy views of the local vineyard and church in the distance.

There is a large and comfortable entertainment room with a home cinema, a piano and large modern sofas, one of which can be used as a sofa bed. Here you can relax and watch a movie or watch the satellite tv.

To the front of the barn, south facing, the garden is laid to lawn and its boundaries are finely edged with roses. Behind the barn, screened by hedges, is a paved area with a large garden table, chairs and Barbecue. Here your outlook is over the local vineyard, with its mix of native Bacchus grapes and Pinot Gris. Just a few metres from the property is a hard double tennis court. It is shared with the guests at nearby Budds House but is nearly always available exclusively to barn guests. Just don't forget your rackets and tennis balls, as these are not provided.

The Kent region

Kent, known as The Garden of England, is a beautiful county, full of stunning gardens, quaint villages, beautiful coastline and all set in a picturesque landscape.

Charming beaches - many of which achieve Blue Flag status, stretch from Whitstable, renowned for its Oysters, to Dungeness, known for its RSPB Nature reserve.

The North Downs/ Pilgrims Way extends from the White Cliffs of Dover to Surrey and are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, along with the Kentish Weald, all beautiful to explore whether on foot, cycle or by car.

No visit to Kent would be complete without a visit to Canterbury, with its UNESCO World Heritage Cathedral & the heart of religious England for 1,400 years.

So whether you wish to visit stately homes, castles, gardens, seaside resorts, country pubs, golf courses or vineyards, the county of Kent, really does have something for everyone.

Wittersham

Halfway between Tenterden and Rye The Vineyard is positioned on the edge of the village of Wittersham. Wittersham stands high in the middle of the Isle of Oxney, which was once an island surrounded by sea water. It has a reach history and the village sign shows an image of a longship, which refers back to the Danish Invasion of Appledore in 892. It is believed that the Danes quite likely occupied the Isle of Oxney, as it was a great vantage point to view the troops of King Alfred the Great.

The Medieval town of Rye is just five miles away and has lots, for visitors to explore for the day, whether you are looking for Boutique shops or quaint tea rooms. The Heritage Centre just a gentle stroll down to the Quay is a good place to start, here you can watch the 'Sound and Light' show exploring the towns past with the Town model. You can visit the famous St Mary's Church and watch the 'Quarter boys' strike the quarter hour and enjoy the beautiful stained glass windows or just take in the views from the 'Gun Gardens', over the marsh and towards the sea.
