Home description
This delightful studio apartment is on the upper floor of a barn-style conversion offering a peaceful, rural retreat with stunning views over the surrounding hills and countryside. It is beautifully light and airy thanks to the velux windows installed in the ceiling. The Studio is independent of the main house, with its own entrance and a small area of garden solely for use by holidaymakers.
The Studio has recently been refurbished to a high standard and offers open plan living accommodation with a double bedroom and bathroom. Access is via a steepish flight of wooden steps. Accommodation
The open plan living room is tastefully decorated in a fresh blue theme with natural wood fittings and provides a double sofa, coffee table and a dining table that seats 4 people. There is a TV with video and DVD (no satellite TV), a radio, no telephone but mobile phone coverage is good. Heating is via portable electric heaters (included in the rent), which make the rooms snug in winter. The kitchen units ranged at one end of the living room comprise a triple sink, plenty of cupboards and work surface and there is a fridge with ice box, microwave, oven and hob, kettle and toaster.
The living room leads into the double bedroom which is furnished with natural wood furniture and has a low level velux window giving stunning south facing views over the surrounding fields.
The compact bathroom is situated off the living room and has a shortish bath with electric shower, basin and WC. The bath is situated under the eaves of the roof and although its easy to get into, taller people may need to duck a bit!

The South East England / Kent region
Withersdane is a rural hamlet set amongst fields of sheep and bounded to the north by the North Downs with its distinctive chalk emblem of the Wye Crown. Wye itself is a lively, picturesque and typical Kent village with a Norman church, post office, butchers, banks, supermarket, pharmacy and newsagents. The gently sloping main street runs down to the Stour river with its ducks and old watermill. The well-reknowned Wife of Bath restaurant, a gastronomic delight, is to be found in Wye as are numerous good quality pubs offering the locally brewed Shepherd Neame beer.
Withersdane / Wye area
Withersdane is the perfect base for walking along the many footpaths in the area including the North Downs Way which passes both the Wye Crown and the Giant’s Footstep. For golfers there are numerous golf courses within a 20-mile radius, the nearest being at Ashford 3 miles away. Trout fishing at Stowting 4 miles from The Studio gives you the chance to cook your own catch and for those with a love of the sea the nearest beach is at Hythe 9 miles away.
How to get there
Withersdane is within easy reach both of Ashford and the Cathedral City of Canterbury (10 miles). The railway station at Wye is a branch line offering a service to both these towns and at Ashford one can join the main line for a 70 minute journey into London Charing Cross and London Waterloo. Eurostar stops at Ashford International with services to Paris (2 hours), Lille (1 hour) and Brussels (2 hours). Access to the motorway network is via junction 9 of the M20 (6 miles) and the Channel Tunnel terminal is 15 minutes away down the M20 towards Folkestone.
Directions: Exit the M20 at Junction 9 signposted to Ashford and Canterbury. Follow the signs for Canterbury A28 (over a roundabout and back over the M20).
Continue on the A28 for about 3 miles to Kempe’s Corner (not signed). Take the right hand turning to Wye and continue to the T junction just before the railway station. Turn right and cross over the railway line (there can be long waits here as the gates are operated manually and often close for several trains at a time) and into the village of Wye.
