About the home

This annex property is attached to the owner's house and has an idyllic location overlooking ¾ acre of garden and woodland. The cottage is furnished to a good standard and has 2 bedrooms over 2 floors with access to the whole garden area, a great place to see wildlife and bird watch. The village shop is only ½ mile away and one of the local pubs, serving home cooked food and real ales, is a mere 100 yards. At the foot of the garden is the start of the High Peak Trail, a 20 mile route taking in some truly stunning scenery and ending up at Parsley Hay near Hartington. The cottage has an outlook over to the famous Black Rocks where there are many walks and cycle routes with excellent views of the surrounding countryside. A great holiday base.

The Heart of England / Peak District / Peak District/Derbyshire region

The Peak District and Derbyshire is a contrast of high rolling moorland, craggy outcrops and picture post card vales and valleys with 'chocolate box' villages.
The whole area is dominated by Britain's first national park; The Peak District National Park which has been catering for visitors for many years. It's easy to get around with a good network of roads and excellent public transport.
There are many places of interest including some lovely towns and villages such as Bakewell, Buxton and Ashbourne as well as historical attractions like Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.
To the north of the region is the High Peak, with miles of heather moorland and great country walks and cycling.

The Wirksworth area

The area around Middleton by Wirksworth has an abundance of walks, cycle routes and bridleways and offers many different attractions such as The Arkwright Centre with its working mill and shopping outlet centre, The Heights of Abraham and Gulliver's Kingdom in Matlock Bath and The National Stone Centre and Derbyshire Eco Centre which is only ½ mile away from cottage. A short drive away is Bakewell with its pretty river, weekly local market and selection of shops, bars, restaurants and pubs. The fabulous stately home of Chatsworth has a farm, beautiful gardens, extensive parklands with many walks and an amazing house full of British antiques. A fantastic area of Derbyshire.
