"Lovely property in a beautiful location"

We had a lovely stay at Mill Bank House. The property was immaculate and spacious, great for our group of extended family which ranged from 4 months to 70. The kitchen was clean and well equipped, perfect for the keen cooks in our group. Wine and chocolates left for our arrival was a pleasant surprise!

Heidi the owner was quick to respond to any questions we had and ensured we had an enjoyable stay.

Would highly recommend!

"Perfect for a multi generational family holiday"

We are a three generational family of expat Brits who have lived in the US for more than 30 years. We chose Mill Bank House for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Old Country to reconnect with our orig… More

Dear Sue and Lindon, Thanks so much for a lovely review, I'm so pleased Mill Bank House worked out so well for you. You're right that there is no pub in the village but we see that as a positive as so many otherwise stunning Cotswold villages are spoilt in the summer by cars parked everywhere whilst their owners visit the pub! Our closest is The Hare and Hounds, a civilised 20 minute walk or 5 in a car.
Best wishes.

"A perfect base for a girls weekend away offering loads of Cotswold charm"

We rented Mill Bank House for a girls weekend away and it turned out to be the perfect base. Although it was in a remote location, which we knew about, it offered no end of tranquility. The property was structured from the Cotswold stone, situated in a beautifully landscaped garden and surrounded by fields of sheep. Despite not wanting to ruin this, their was a great amount of privacy, so you didn't have to worry about disturbing the neighbours as a group. The property was large in size and with many rooms, which allowed everyone to come together when they wanted, but also have personal space when needed. It was beautifully decorated and we weren't short of any accessories or facilities to cater for the group. Although everything worked as it needed to, my only observation as an area of improvement would be the bathrooms. They weren't all equal in condition and looked a little tired in places. Heidi (the owner) was very friendly and helpful when making the booking, especially with advice on local companies and facilities. The experience she offered me, along with the use of a fabulous property really made this a great weekend away. If I have an excuse to get away in the future, this will definitely be on my list of places to return to. Thank you!

We celebrated our Ruby Wedding anniversary in Mill Bank house with our children and grandchildren, I couldn't have picked a better place to stay. I spent many months looking for the right house for our holiday, as I know my standards are very high, Mill bank house lived up to all my expectations. We all enjoyed the spacious rooms and the play room was a bonus for the children with plenty of toys and dvds. We had great fun in the garden as we had a good few days of sunshine and when it did rain there were plenty of places to visit.

Dear Jean, Thank you so much for your lovely comments - I'm really pleased that Mill Bank lived up to your expectations. Best wishes. Heidi

"Beautiful house in an idyllic location"

The whole experience was fantastic: the owner was very friendly and efficient at responding to our complex queries ( we were a group of friends with small kids ) and beds were arranged according to our wishes. The house is beautiful, nicely decorated and well equipped, and all bedrooms are en-suite or have a bathroom just outside. The garden is fab, and just over the wall were sheep and a horse - which made our kids very happy. The village itself is absolutely beautiful and you must take time to take a walk - it is easy enough to find a circuit using some of the public footpaths that run just outside the house. Further afield there are many fun excursions including fishing in Bibury trout farm (if your kids are not squeamish) and some lovely pubs. Highly recommended, and we'll be back!!

Thanks Aris for a lovely review! Heidi

"Beautiful Property in a quiet Cotswolds village"

We rented this property for a long weekend as friends of ours were getting married at nearby Cripps Barn in Bibury. The property is absolutely stunning, is spacious yet cosy and has all the equipment you could need. You should be prepared that there is absolutely nothing in the village of Winson, so bring your provisions with you. However, the pre-stay information informed us of this and we had no trouble at all in venturing out to other local villages for food and evening drinks. An absolutely perfect base for a weekend away with a group of friends.

"Lovely House - a great escape to the country"

We enjoyed a long weekend at the house - all the rooms were really nicely decorated, and it had everything you would need for your stay. The garden was beautiful and there are nearby fields to walk the dogs.
It is a very quiet, serene place with the stone houses, rolling fields and river. There are some great pubs too - we enjoyed The Inn at Fossebridge and The Wheatsheaf Inn in Northleach. Great food (good for kids & dogs).
A thoroughly enjoyable stay! Thank you.

"Stunning property in dream location"

Mill Bank House was a truly memorable let that far exceeded our already high expectations. Refurbished only this year, it is a traditional Cotswold property full of character that has nevertheless been decorated and furnished sensitively in a comfortable and contemporary style. The accommodation was very spacious throughout, not least in the wonderfully light and airy kitchen and dining room which seats twelve comfortably and which made for a great informal entertaining space. The whole house was impeccably equipped, right from the full range of high-quality, brand new kitchen appliances through to some of the most comfortable beds we have found in a holiday let anywhere. Nor was there any skimping on things like table ware: John Lewis stuff much in evidence and more than enough glasses and mugs to ensure plenty to spare when the dishwasher was running. There was no disappointment either in how the house and its lovely gardens were presented: everything spotless and tidy, a real credit to the cleaning and gardening staff. All-in-all the impression was that no detail had been overlooked by owners who seem truly intent on their guests having a great experience.
As for Winson village itself, what a thrilling discovery. With a history that goes way back before Domesday times (see Mollie Davis A History of Winson if interested), the village has all the charm of the better known destinations like the Slaughters but without the crowds. This may be something to do with the fact that there is no pub in the village itself but this absence is compensated by the facilities in nearby (and equally charming) Bibury, a pleasant two mile stroll along country lanes. There are lovely walks along the Coln Valley and lots more to see within just a few miles.
Top this all off with friendly, obliging and hospitable hosts and this becomes extremely hard to beat as a Cotswold rental holiday for the larger group. A simply first rate property in a perfect gem of a village. Highly recommended.
