The Cumbria/Lake District region

Water, where you can cruise the lake on a steam-powered yacht soaking up the scenery in Victorian style, could be for you. Walking is one of the best ways of exploring the Lake District.
For the serious walker the mountains of Skiddaw, Scafell and Helvellyn provide enjoyable challenges, whilst at lower levels there are hundreds of routes wandering among the lakes and stone-walled fields. You can even choose a lake to suit your mood: if bustling lakeside towns and exhilarating watersports take your fancy, then Windermere and Coniston Water, where you can cruise the lake on a steam-powered yacht soaking up the scenery in Victorian style, could be for you.
If it’s peace and tranquility you seek then the secluded lakes of Buttermere and Wastwater are not to be missed. Yet Cumbria offers much more than the lakes alone. Explore the National Nature Reserve on Walney Island or visit the picturesque Duddon Valley, where the heather clad moors peppered with birch trees inspired many of Wordsworth’s poems.
With its award-winning gardens and the Lakeland Motor Museum, Holker Hall is also a great day out, whilst in northern Cumbria the peaceful villages of Caldbeck and Ireby offer a haven of solitude and picturesque tranquility. To the east lies the green and sheltered Eden Valley. Its dramatic landscape provides a range of activities including walking, cycling and watersports and is home to the Lakeland Bird of Prey Centre and Lowther Wildlife Park, perfect for a family day out
The Windermere / Troutbeck area
Situated between Windermere and Ambleside, the small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found close to the Kirkstone Pass. Composed of a mixture of houses, cottages and farms, this scattered village dates back to the 17th Century. Architecture in the village is fascinating as a result and features mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys as well as a purpose-built 17th Century inn. The bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are very close by and provide a wide range of amenities, whilst Lake Windermere itself offers boat trips including a ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. Also within easy driving distance is the 'Windermere Steamboat Museum', the 'World of Beatrix Potter' and towns such as Coniston Water, Kendal and Keswick. With excellent walking in the Lakeland Mountains, this lovely village is ideally placed for exploring all that the region has to offer.

Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental.
Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday.
"Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.
