Accommodation in detail
Entrance porch and a first sight into this captivating residence; spacious dining / hall, perfect for formal gatherings with great food, even better wine and conversation late into the night. The drawing room has a splayed bay window commanding spectacular views; this room is for total relaxation. The breakfast kitchen literally has it all, including hidden panels to pop out a TV; even 'Nigella' would feel at home in here. The rear lobby gives access to a cloakroom and the rear of the property where a courtyard patio makes a perfect setting for breakfast on sunny mornings. There is also access to the cellars where the games room offers fabulous games for all ages including pool, air hockey, Wii and a DVD player.
The original magnificent staircase ascends to the first floor, where from the Master Bedroom the views over the lake get even better. This bedroom is an homage to Victorian life with French Antique furniture including a king sized bed, and delightful en-suite facility.
Also located on the first floor is a separate suite with a further king size bed and en-suite bathroom. Upwards and onwards takes one to 'The Loft Suite' - wow, what a room this is with breathtaking views and en-suite facility, the room is divided by the staircase giving two distinct sleeping areas - two rooms in one. This is perfect for families with a child. The writer of this would instinctively plump for this room - expect some debate!!
The gardens are delightful with superb views from the terrace inviting guests to enjoy al-fresco living or maybe for just a glass or two in the evening sunshine.
This unique self-catering property offers easy access to the lake shore, and also the popular villages of Windermere and Bowness.
Windermere village centre is just a five minute walk away, ideal for stocking up the kitchen; there you'll find a large Booths supermarket well stocked with the best local produce as well as everyday essentials. The High Street has a traditional butcher, several restaurants and cafes together with pubs serving real Lakeland ale.
Bowness village is a busier tourist destination, just a couple of miles away. The village revolves around the boating activity of Bowness Bay, where hire boats come and go and Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside - explore without a car! Windermere Golf Club is located just outside Bowness.
You'll also enjoy easy access by car or bus to other popular Lake District holiday destinations, such as Hawkshead (via the car ferry across Lake Windermere from Bowness), the Troutbeck Valley, Ullswater, Ambleside and Grasmere.

The Cumbria/Lake District
The Lake District is a place like no other. No other region in the world is so packed with such varied and stunning scenery in such as small area– and it's all on your doorstep with easy access by car or rail. The choice of outdoor activities is endless with some of the best walks, climbs and bike rides in the world, beautiful lakes for sailing, canoeing, windsurfing or just a cruise one of several ferry services. The National Park itself encompasses soaring mountains, native woodland (you might see a red squirrel!), lush meadows and of course the many famous lakes themselves. Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter, Ruskin and many more have been inspired by the Lake District and made their homes here. The homes are still here and open to visit and they too are surrounded by majestic mountain panoramas. There also some surprises – kids will love attractions such as the giant i-max screen at Rheged Visitor Centre, Go Ape aerial activities in Grizedale Forest and The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness. And where better to stay than a classic Lakeland Cottage. Lakelovers have over 400 properties in prime locations within the heart of the Lakes and we specialise in hand-picked properties that we know you'll love. Whether you want a grand property for a family gathering or a cosy bolt hole for two we can't wait to show you what we have for you to choose from. We know The Lakes inside out and we are just a click of a mouse or a phone call away.
