'No 15' College Gate Windermere is a second floor apartment that has been fully modernised, furnished and decorated to a high standard, offering luxury accommodation, including a south west facing balcony. The apartment comprises a large living room with dining area and small kitchen, two bedrooms and bathroom and is furnished for four people. The balcony is furnished with a bistro table and chairs and offers good views of Claife Heights and the surrounding area.

The apartment is in a quiet location close to the main shopping streets of Windermere and benefits from a dedicated on site car parking space. The property has easy access to bus stops serving the Lake District and the wider region and is close to Windermere Station which links to the West Coast main line.

The Lake District

Windermere is a town in Cumbria, England, lying about one kilometre away from the lake of the same name. Although Windermere confusingly does not touch the lake, it has now grown together with the older lakeside town of Bowness-on-Windermere, though the two retain distinguishable town centres. There are a number of museums, but the main draw for its many tourists is the lake. Boats from the piers in Bowness (about a fifteen-minute walk from the top of Windermere town) sail around the lake, many calling at Ambleside or at Lakeside where there is a restored railway.

Windermere is the largest natural lake in England, and is entirely within in the Lake District National Park. It has been one of the country's most popular places for holidays and summer homes since 1847, when the Kendal and Windermere Railway built a branch line to it. Lake Windermere is 10½ miles (17 km) long and varies from a quarter of a mile to one mile wide (400 m to 1500 m). It reaches a depth of about 220 feet (65 m) near its northern end and has an elevation above sea level of 130 feet (40 m). The lake is drained from its southernmost point by the River Leven. There are two towns which border the lake, Ambleside and Bowness-on-Windermere.

The lake is largely surrounded by foot-hills of the Lake District which provide pleasant low-level walks; to the north and north-east are the higher fells of Central Lakeland.


Windermere town itself offers a wide range of shops and restaurants including a large Booths supermarket and a smaller Morrisons and Co-op. Windermere is an excellent location for exploring the wider Lake District and Lake Windermere, or you can walk from the flat into the surrounding hills or countryside.

Local attractions include a variety of National Trust properties and gardens, Blackwell arts and craft house, Ruskin's house at Brantwood and Beatrix Potter's house and museum.

"Great location, great place"

"Perfect apartment"

This apartment is perfect in so many ways. Spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable and very well located. It was a joy to come back to such a comfortable homely place after a long day walking and exploring the lakes. Mike and Yvette provide everything you could wish for and more. We just couldn't fault anything and would highly recommend a stay.

"Fantastic apartment, great location"

Apartment is fantastic, everything you'd want including a lovely welcome pack. Unlimited wifi, well-appointed kitchen, modern bathroom, tv and dvd player for the really wet days. Great location, within walking distance of everywhere. Two minutes from the door and you're in the centre of Windermere, lots of shops, pubs, restaurants, takeaways. 20 minutes walk and you're in Bowness and on a boat to Ambleside. Park your car and forget about it till its time to go home. Access/exit instructions are spot-on and Yvette and Mike are at the end of a phone if you need any help. Can't fault the place and would definitely come back again.

"Excellent Apartment"

Apartment was spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished, well equipped with additional items not always found in other rental properties. The view from the balcony was lovely and we spent many evenings there drinking a wine or two and admiring the scenery. Wi-Fi in the apartment was a good facility to have. We were supplied with a welcome pack which was much appreciated. The centre of Windermere was only just around the corner and only a five minute walk to the rail/bus station for easy access to the rest of the Lake District. We only used the car once all week to attend a wedding. What more could we ask for? Perfect for us!

"Very nice appartement and ideal place for trips to the lake district!"

The appartment is very nice, well equiped and comfortable. We had a great time there. Especially the welcome basket was a nice surprise. The location in Windermere is perfect, very close to shops and restaurants and just a nice walk away: the Lake Windermere. We also did trips to other parts of the Lake District like Coniston, Ulsswater or the Buttermere Valley. On a rainy day you can just stay in and relax. Thanks for this nice accommodation and the perfect week we had in the Lake District!

We have just returned from a fabulous weekend staying in a wonderful apartment which has everything you could wish for. The location, cleanliness and facilities were first class. We will definitely be back.

"Fab place to stay"

We stayed here for new Year 2014, It's an absolute gem place to stay. Equipped with all kitchen essentials and a fab welcome pack. Everything we needed to start us off. Lovely and clean and close to all amenities. We would definitely stay here again as we did have to cut short our holiday during our stay. The only this i would suggest is maybe put a little bit of Christmas into the apartment to add to the finishing touches for people staying during December/January months. Otherwise fantastic.

"Fabulous stay"

Just arrived back from a wonderful stay at College Gate. The apartment was fabulous, Yvette and Mike had thought of everything, including a great welcome hamper. The apartment is ideally situated, within easy walking distance to Bowness and close to local shops. It was exceptionally clean and as described on the internet. We will definitely book again. Thank you for making our holiday so comfortable.

Lovely apartment, welcome pack from Yvette and Mike, a lovely personal touch, very welcome after a long journey. Everything thought of in apartment, home from home. Board games came in handy for our rain (rest) day. Good location, minutes walk to village with shops and restaurants. 20 minute walk to lake, for boat trip, shops and restaurants. Good access for visiting local areas. A must do: take the time to walk up Orrest Head (25 minutes from apartment to the top)- lovely views of lake and the sunset is amazing. If you are feeling energetic try to get up early for the sunrise - spectacular from Orrest Head. A wonderful break in beautiful surroundings.
