The World of Beatrix Potter Once you have paid your entrance fee, you are shown a short film about the world of Beatrix potter and its history. Here you can experience all of the twenty three Beatrix potter tales; these are brought to life in an indoor recreation of the beautiful lake district. You can experience some of the sights, sounds and even smells, so this is just like stepping into the story book.

The museum is really quite small, to look at but it is packed with big human size models of the Beatrix creations, Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddleduck, Miss Tiggy Winkle and all of the other characters created by the legendary Beatrix Potter.

Brockhole Visitor Centre There are free exhibitions, indoor soft play and creativity space and an adventure playground for children as well as extensive gardens and lakeshore. New for 2012 is aerial woodland adventure Treetop Trek and wildlife experience Predator Park. There are also lots of events and activities from archery to raft-building - check out what's on.

Via Ferrata at Honister Pass It is an amazing journey across the imposing Honister Crag using fixed iron footholds and handholds. You will cross zipwires and climb sheer cliff faces safe in the knowledge you are securely joined to the mountain by a strong safety cable! A truly unforgettable experience.

South Lakes Wild Animal Park Upon entry to the park you will soon realise there is minimal fencing between you and the animals. Limas, emus, pigs, donkeys and kangaroos pretty much roam free. This gives a great feel of being in the zoo rather than just wandering about it. Food is available from the gift shop to feed quite a few of these animals with.

At certain times you can feed the giraffes and penguins by hand and watch the tigers being fed. The tigers are made to climb a 30ft pole for their food.

Muncaster Castle & Gardens Dominating the River Esk, Muncaster has been of strategic importance since Roman times and has been home to the Penningtons since 1208. Historic Haunted Castle, 70 acres of stunning gardens set against the backdrop of the Lake District fells and home to the World Owl Centre with over 200 of these amazing birds. Award winning Muncaster has something for everyone, throughout the year. New for the millennium was the Meadow Vole Maze - where you can imagine being a meadow vole, just two and a half inches tall, living in meadowland, where danger lurks at every turn. In the Meadow Vole Maze the secret world of wildlife makes a wild experience. You may meet Max Meadowvole, who will help you get home safely

Lakes Aquarium The Aquarium of the Lakes takes you on a journey to discover the types of life found in and around the Lakes. It has the UK's largest collection of freshwater fish and a walk underwater along Windermere's re-created lake bed; a look at the amazing diving ducks and a chance meet their mischievous otters and even come face to face with Lakeland's pike. You can also encounter sharks and rays from around the local coast.

The Aquarium's stunning displays follow the fascinating journey of a Lakeland River from it's beginning on the mountaintop to its final destination of Morecambe Bay with the aid of up to date aquarium technology. the Aquarium offers multi-level viewing over two floors and over 30 wonderful displays that feature the vast array of life found in and around the Lake District.

The Aquarium provides an enjoyable and educational experience for all ages.

Townend House Atmospheric farmhouse full of quirky objects and fascinating stories. The Brownes of Townend in the Troutbeck valley were just an ordinary farming family but their home and belongings bring to life more than 400 years of extraordinary stories. As you approach Townend - a traditional stone and slate farmhouse, you'll understand why Beatrix Potter described Troutbeck valley as her favourite.

Once inside, you are welcomed into the farmhouse kitchen with a real fire - burning most days - and a quirky collection of domestic tools. Exploring further, you can marvel at the intricately carved furniture and discover why the collection of books belonging to this farming family is of international importance.

Wray Castle This is not a real castle but a private house built in in the Gothic Revival Style in 1840. It was built for Dr James Dawson, a retired Liverpool surgeon, and is now owned by the National Trust. The house was built using his wife's inheritance from a gin fortune. Apparently she took one look at the house when it was finished, and refused to live in it.

Lakeland Motor Museum The fascinating Lakeland Motor Museum nestles in the picturesque Leven Valley, at Backbarrow, close to the southern tip of Lake Windermere.

A diverse and unique road transpost collection of some 30,000 exhibits assembled over a period of almost 50 years is thoughtfully displayed alongside many non-motoring additions, in fully DDA compliant state-of-the-art premises with a beautiful riverside setting.

This thought provoking and thoroughly enjoyable attraction, with VisitEngland, VAQAS (Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme) accreditation, provides a perfect, whatever the weather, all year venue certain to entertain and enthral all ages.

Significant investment has been made in all aspects of activity which impact on the quality of the visitor experience to ensure an enduring and positive memory.

"Comfortable, clean and well equipped"

Had a lovely stay here with 5 friends. Extremely well equipped homely lodge with gas BBQ, lots of chairs outside on the decking, wine on arrival was a lovely touch. Owner was friendly and efficient when emailing details. Whole leisure park has free wi-fi. Only thing is the 3rd bedroom is extremely small compared to the other 2. Overall I highly recommend.

Many thanks for reviewing our lodge and so glad you had a great time. Hope to see you back in the future.

"Excellent Lodge, Home from Home with everything you need and more."

We have just spent a week at the lodge and our family ranged from 3mths to 56yrs, all ages were catered for. Whether you wanted a nice relaxing holiday or a very active holiday this lodge was situated in a great area. The lodge had everything you needed, very clean and the welcome pack was a nice added touch. The hosts were to hand if needed, I would recommend this lodge to all my friends. Hoping to go back for a mini break late this year.

Many thanks for taking time out to review our lodge. We appreciate how busy people are and get a real buzz when guests go to the effort! We look forward to welcoming you back later on in the year!!

"What a wonderful property, surroundings and owner....."

Margaret the owner was superb. She answered all emails promptly, the property was immaculate and she even left us a bottle of wine, milk, bread and juice on arrival. The lodge is a few minutes walk to the lake, and close to the town centre.
We will certainly be going back. The price was really reasonable and the outdoor seating was comfortable, as were the beds. It had all 'mod cons' , a really good BBQ and the decoration was contempory. We really couldnt fault the whole experience.

thank you so much for taking time to review the lodge. We are so glad you had such a fantastic holiday and really hope to see you again.
