The Cumbria/Lake District
Cumbria, at the very north of England, is amongst its most beautiful regions. The Lake District National Park has long been celebrated for its mirror lakes and craggy peaks.
There are also an abundance of pretty villages and towns. The Lake District is heaven for those who love the outdoors, with sailing, rock climbing and hiking and much more on offer. Cumbria has sandy coastlines and interesting towns to visit, including old-fashioned Windermere and Keswick.
The location of the cottage is in the centre of Windermere Village, an area that many see as the centre of the Lake District National Park, the cottage is conveniently located for restaurants and shops only a few metres away, Windermere Railway station is approximately 5 minutes away on foot.
Lake Windermere is less than a mile away where you can enjoy a ferry ride or take one of the small pleasure crafts that can be hired locally or just take in the amazing sites the Lakes has to offer.
Windermere cottage is situated in the centre of Windermere and is ideal for those without transport as it is close to the railway station, local bus routes and all the amenities of Windermere and the Lake District.
Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac, our holiday cottage is ideally placed for easy access to the centre of Windermere and only a short walk from the railway station. It is situated in a pleasant residential area of Windermere, close to various public houses selling traditional ales which are popular with locals and holidaymakers alike. It is also situated conveniently for all the attractions of a holiday in the Lake District National Park.

This was our first time visiting The Lakes, so we wanted to stay in a proper cottage, not a modern apartment. As soon as I saw the little road and the cottage I knew I picked the right place to stay. The cottage is perfect, olde worlde charm on the outside, but inside it is modern and well equipped. The welcome wine and Kendal mint cake was just the ticket after a 6 hour train journey. The cottage was really comfortable and had all we needed for the week (a tumble drier would have been helpful on the Wednesday!).
Clive and Rose should be proud of their cottage and their service. They have a file with all the important stuff available, such as names of restaurants and take away services, and the best walks nearby (Orrest Head offers fantastic views over lake Windermere and is easy on the legs. Go up for the sunset).
The cottage was so easy to find, being only a couple of minutes from the train station. Plenty of choices nearby for eating out or take-away; including the Little Chippy (recommended) straight opposite the cottage. The lake is a lovely 20-30 minute stroll down the hill, depending on your speed! Buses run very regularly from outside the train station, taking you almost anywhere within the lake district and beyond. There is also a Booths supermarket at the train station, perfect to stock up on food for the holiday and only 2 minutes from the cottage.
In short, this is a fantastic cottage and we will hopefully be back soon.

"Comfortable centrally located cottage"
Out of season visit. Cottage is comfortable and well-equipped although a tumble dryer or dishwasher would be more useful than the freezer. I struggled manipulating the door locks but my husband managed them. Parking permit very helpful. Parking tight as expected in Windermere. Summer visitors should be aware no outside space although plenty close by. Would book again.
