Dove Cottage is a true Lakeland stone cottage situated in Sizergh.On one level with stunning views from all the windows ,convenient for all of the major towns and tourist attractions in Windermere and the surrounding area. The cottage is spacious and has been fully renovated to a high standard and includes modern and luxurious fittings and furnishings. The cottage has two large double bedrooms, one single bedroom with single bed and pull out bed, two bathrooms, one ensuite, living area and large kitchen with dining area. There is a large terrace accessed from both the kitchen and living areas. Outside there is parking for two cars.Walking, sightseeing, riding, lake trips, steam engine rides, local farms, historic gardens, the perfect family location, easy access and all modern facilities on your door step.

Dove Cottage has gas central heating and the luxurious fittings and furnishings are brand new. The cottage has a large terrace complete with garden furniture and amazing views over the nearby fells.Local shops all walking distance.

Dove Cottage is situated in one of the most convenient and well located areas within the lakes and if you had to pick an area with amazing facilities and perfect views, it would be Sizergh. The cottage is no more than 15 minutes drive from Windermere and the beaches at Silverdale, Arnside, Sandsideand Kirby Lonsdale. The lake at Bowness can also be accessed at Newby bridge . Cartmel and Grange over Sands in no more than 15 minutes The nearest main line station at Oxenholme is less than two miles away and the cottage is 5 miles from junction 36 off the M6 motorway,the bus stops right outside .so you really can enjoy all Wainright walks in and around the lakes.

"Nice cottage - Badly managed"

Firstly i should say i am not one of those moaning trip advisor posters. I only ever feel inclined to write when i think something is excellent or really bad. Unfortunately this case is the latter...T… More

honesty is the only policy, Miss Deakin omits to mention that her party burnt the carpet outside the bedroom, I suspect with the iron.
The door required a new catch, there was no mention of any fault or problems until photos of said burn were sent. I was personally responsible for both the pre and post clean.
It was nice to hear that the cottage was ok.
Communication, we only communicate by email for pricing and quotes as all reply's are stored on the holiday lettings/trip advisor website to ensure no mistakes are made.
This is particularly important when a group books such as Miss Deakins and other party members start up communication, as was the case here.
When advice was given that there would now be three cars at the property, this was not a problem.
We advised all terms and conditions are on the website covering two pages and the print is not especially small!
We don't release the access code until midday on the day of arrival, this is for security reasons and our check-in policy.
Our response rate hovers around 100% on trip advisor.

"A great base for a trip to The Lakes"

We've just come back from two 'last minute' nights in Dove Cottage between Xmas and New Year, and can't help but think that we landed on our feet! The cottage itself is in a great spot - easy to find, very clean, well furnished and equipped, and big enough to cope with 4 adults, 4 kids (2x14 year olds, and 2x12 year olds) and a dog so long as you've got a couple of people happy to sleep on a sofa-bed. It's also in a good location to get out and explore the Lakes and all they have to offer. We weren't there long but short drives took us to Bowness and up to Elterwater whilst we were. We also made full use of the excellent Strickland Arms which is only a 5 minute walk from the cottage - a proper old English pub with great staff, beer and (excellent) food.

The owner Martin was easy to get hold of when I needed to ask questions, and has been a pleasure to deal with throughout.

Particular highlights were the 3 meals down at the Strickland Arms and the walk around Elterwater. The only disappointment was that we had to leave so soon after we'd arrived...

[I'd be giving this 4.5 stars if I could add a half!]

The location is perfect! easy access off the motorway and great access to walks, villages, lakes, etc
We came looking for somewhere quiet, comfortable, clean, relaxing and convenient. We found it!!!

"Had a lovely stay in a beautiful cottage, highly recommended."

Dove Cottage was ideal for our family holiday in the Lake District. The cottage has all the facilities you would want , very clean , and tastefully furnished. Beautiful views from the terrace. Excellent kitchen which made catering easy. Only minor negative was the noise from the road nearby.

The views from the windows and the terrace are what u come to the lakes for many thanks

"Nice place but the owner is overly pernickety"

Booking the property was alright. All details are on the website, and if you have any questions, he will tell you to look on the website. I felt more comfortable texting him then calling.

The property is easily accessed from the highway, and is actually easy to find, but the directions and the map on the website point to different places non of them being the cottage. There was a friendly man at the hotel nearby on the map that helped us.

The house is very clean and fully equiped. The beds are very comfortable with fluffy cushions and even though you are close to the highway you don't notice that. From the house you can easily access other villages at the lakes, and it's about 5 minutes from Kendal and a supermarket just incase you need to go out to get something. There's also a nice pub with fire at the bottom of the road.

When we left we cleaned and tidied the house leaving it as we believed was a good condition to our standards. When the owner saw the house he complained saying that we treated the house badly and that we had left a big mess, which apparently took his cleaners an extra 4 hours to clean. We believe his complaints were extreme and come from a very personal view of how the house had to be left. He also always referes to the website as outlyining how it should be left, but the website is very vague in comparison to what he wants. Part of his complaints incuded leaving clean dishes in the dish washer, not replacing toilet paper that was provided and not mopping our footprints on the tiled kitched floor. The only complaint that we thought may have been reasonable was that someone stepped on the carpet with their outdoor footwear once (the website suggests bring sandals. This is highly reccomended because of his reaction).

He provided pictures to prove his point but they were really bad and we couldnt really see what he was complaining about. He wanted £75 compensation, however we did not agree on this. He therefore did not return our £61 that were left from the deposit.

I would reccomend coming here only if you leave the place precisely as you found it.
