Many thanks for taking the time to write such a lovely review and we are delighted you both had such a lovely weekend. We apologise if the photos do not clearly show there is a neighbouring property within the grounds. The photo taken from the rear patio does only show part of the neighbouring building. There is a high hedge next to the lodge parking area which affords lodge guests privacy but thank you for bringing this to our attention. We look forward to welcoming you back.

"A fabulous retreat that I really should be keeping secret!"
Having stayed at Oakthwaite a few times now, both with my partner as a romantic break and with our 5yr old for my birthday treat this year, I can safely say it is without doubt my/our favourite place to retreat to.
The accommodation has everything you need to make it comfortable and homely, whilst still being modern and spacious. With private parking right outside the front door. Early risers can have a quiet coffee in the private courtyard garden at the Lodge, whilst listening to the birds and stream that runs alongside...very relaxing and quiet!
It is close to both Bowness and Windermere if you are more "Amblers" than "Ramblers" like ourselves, with local shops, pubs and restaurants just a short walk away. We recommend "Monties" cafe as a good place to eat and drink.
The owners at Oakthwaite are friendly and welcoming and always around should you need them, but allow you your own space so that you really feel like Oakthwaite is yours for the time you are there.
I simply can't find fault...It's a fabulous retreat that I really should be keeping secret!
