The Cumbria/Lake District

The Lake District conjures up images of magnificent mountains and shimmering lakes and that is exactly what visitors find here. In fact the whole county of Cumbria is home to some of Britain's most beautiful scenery.
This region has been a favourite all year round holiday destination for years and apart from its natural beauty it's also packed with lots of attractions and activities that cater for every kind of holidaymaker, from family holidays to romantic breaks for couples and from those who are looking for lots of activities and sports to those that prefer more gentle country pursuits.
The Lake District National Park lies at the heart of Cumbria and contains well known and much loved holiday destinations such as Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston and Grasmere, here there are lots of charming Lakeland villages to discover and visitor attractions for all the family.
The northern and western lakes have miles of untouched natural rugged beauty and rural villages as well as being home to the historic northern lakes town of Keswick with its many shops, pubs and restaurants; providing a great holiday base.
Other areas to discover include the Eden Valley, Cartmel peninsula, south east Cumbria and the Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall area; all equally beautiful and very handy for day trips into the lakes.

Limefitt Park is hidden away in the peaceful Troutbeck Valley just three miles from both Ambleside and Windermere. It's a great base for walking and mountain biking with footpaths round the quaint village of Troutbeck or more challenging fell walks to Wansfell Pike and the Yoke. As well as enjoying an abundance of wildlife this vibrant park also has an excellent range of facilities including a small supermarket, a pub serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, an adventure playground and a laundry service. Major Lake District attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes, the Steamers and launches at Bowness Bay and the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction are all within easy access of the park all providing excellent days out suitable for all ages.

"great positioned lodge"

This lodge is in a lovely spot, away from the rest of the site so very quiet. Small issue with there being No key in key box and site shop not happy to loan us their key to access lodge, Office closed on our arrival at 5.30pm. We begged for the key and eventually they gave in !!! The lodge itself is clean and well equipped although unlike the other lodges on this site, No Washer / Drier so wet clothes stay wet. Only one other moan... The cushions on the leather suite slip off continually while you are sitting on them, not very comfy, But we have been to this lodge 4 times now so that must say something.. {We take our own chairs} Just Booking again for 2014....
