5 The Banks is new 'to market' (May 2014) It has had a thorough refurbishment achieving a very high standard of finish and quality furnishings. This cosy 'boutique style' cottage is where you can relax, feel comfortable and unwind. Whether it's a romantic getaway or time away with friends, your stay should be very comfortable with all that you need around you.

There is a kingsize bed in a good sized room and a small double bed in the smaller room. A modern bathroom with an 'overbath shower'.

The modern kitchen is fully equipped with all that you would need to make an evening meal or a hearty breakfast before heading off for the day.

There is a small patio area by the back porch where you can have drinks and nibbles on a warm evening.

The preferred entrance to the cottage is through the porch at the back of the house where coats, boots and shoes can be placed and where the washing machine/dryer is on hand.

The Banks is a 1 minute walk to the train station. Regular trains go to Kendal and Windermere.

Parking is right outside the front door.

The Cumbria/Lake District

The county of Cumbria is home to some of Britain's most beautiful scenery. This region is a favourite all year round holiday destination. It is packed with lots of attractions and activities.

The Lake District National Park lies at the heart of Cumbria and contains the much loved holiday destinations of Windermere, Bowness, Coniston and Grasmere where there are lots of charming Lakeland villages and attractions to discover.

Staveley is a village in the District of South Lakeland.

It is ideally placed for exploring the rest of The Lake District and is only a few minutes away from Kentmere valley and the bustling towns of Windermere and Kendal.

Staveley itself has much to offer - excellent walking, fishing & cycling, a vibrant array of local business's including Hawkshead Brewery and Wheelbase.

There are great eateries in town (4 mins walking distance from the cottage) The Eagle & Child pub, Starleys', Hawkhead Brewery and Wilf's Cafe.

1 minutes walk from The Banks is the train station which runs regular trains to Windermere and Kendal.

Windermere

Windermere has the largest natural Lake In England. You can take boat rides here. Booths supermarket is by the station (handy if you wish to shop before getting the train back) This bustling town has plenty of shops and eateries.

It is well known for its natural beauty and variety of walks however there there are also plenty of other outdoor activities including horse riding, golf, sailing and climbing.

Bowness-on-Windermere further along the road from Windermere is an excellent centre for boating activities, with over 10,000 boats registered.

Kendal is about 4 miles from Staveley and is home to 2 castles, 2 museums and a host of historical buildings and bridges. It is well placed to cater for everyone's holiday needs. Kendal has all the high street stores plus many eateries and coffee shops.

Kentmere is 4 miles from Staveley and worth a visit for the walkers amongst you.

The unspoilt Village of Cartmel offers stunning views of the South Lakeland District fells and countryside. Cartmel has grown up around its famous 12th century medieval Priory Church. It is a special place where the ancient history and tradition mingle with the present day. Around the village square you will discover a delightful assortment of genuine 16th-18th century buildings providing, as they have for centuries, friendly Inns, shops and quality attractions.

Cartmel is home to L'Enclume, Simon Rogan's Michelin starred restaurant. Also his bistro 'Rogan & Company is worthy of a visit. The Pig & Whistle is small and cosy offering a bistro menu.

"Great Cosy Stay"

5 The Banks was a great little apartment which was a perfect size for 4 adults (Two older and two younger) The whole place had been recently renovated so practically everything was brand new. The plac… More

Thank you for your review. I have taken on board the need for a larger pan and this is now in the cottage. Also I have added a large ceramic dish that would be useful for perhaps a lasagne etc.
