Two interconnecting properties which can be booked together to provide accommodation for larger groups. Close to Bowness and all its amenities, yet set in stunning countryside this property offers an ideal setting for a larger group or family holiday.

Cosy fires, original features yet all the home comforts you need to make a brilliant Lakeland holiday. Walks from the door and stunning views of the Windermere and surrounding fells.

The Cumbria/Lake District region

The Lake District is the most popular visitor destination in the UK, offering something for everyone whether you are looking for adventure and outdoor pursuits or something less energetic like a cookery course.

The scenery is stunnning and varies from season to season, with Wordsworth's famous daffodils in Spring or the impressive array of colours in the autumnal trees.

There are many transport links to get to this popular destination and once there you can chose from steam trains, ferries, buses or steamers to enjoy looking at the scenery.

There are many famous people who have links with the Lake District such as Beatrix Potter, Ruskin, Wordsworth and Donald Campbell and there are museams and tours based on their lives in the area.

The Windermere / Bowness area

The nearest town to the house is Bowness which offers a good variety of shops, pubs, restaurants and more, including the World of Beatrix Potter museam, the Steamboat Museam, rowing and motor boat hire and a cinema.
There is an annual Airshow at the Glebe in Bowness usually towards the end of July (please check with Tourist Information on +44 (0)15394 42895 as well as a number of other local events throughout the year.

Car: A short 15 minute drive from the M6 motorway, Junction 36, a 5 minute drive from Bowness. Full directions will be sent to you on booking.

Rail:Windermere railway station is approximately 5 miles away from the cottage. Regular trains link Windermere with Oxenholme station on the main Euston/West Coast line. Journey times: London=less than 4 hours, Manchester=less than 1.5 hours, Edinburgh=less than 4 hours, Birmingham=less than 2.5 hours and Newcastle=less than 3 hours.

Sea: Our nearest ferry port is Heysham, with regular links from Belfast and The Isle of Man. Liverpool and Holyhead ports have regular links from Belfast and Dublin and Newcastle and Hull ports link from Northern Europe.

Air: The Lake District is served by various neighbouring airports, although our nearest and most accessible airport with good transport links to Windermere is Manchester International. If wishing to hire a car upon arrival, the next best airports are; Newcastle, Liverpool, Humberside, Teesside, Glasgow, and East Midlands which are all within easy driving distance. Many low cost airlines fly to these locations.
