Lodge | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
Owl Lodge is a two-bedroom lodge sited on Limefitt Park in the heart of the Lake District.
The nearest village is Troutbeck which is three miles from Windermere, and four miles from Ambleside. Walks along Troutbeck valley, up Wansfell Pike and along the High Street fells can be started directly from the lodge, and three excellent pubs are within two miles, with the Haybarn Inn being located in Limefitt Park.
The lodge itself is cosy and warm, and with central heating and double glazing, it is perfect for holidays in all seasons. The elevated position of the lodge provides fell and valley views from all windows, and behind the lodge is direct access to woods. The lodge is well equipped with two shower rooms, one an en-suite off the main bedroom. It also offers a full kitchen including oven, microwave and dishwasher, and TV/ dvd players in the lounge and in both bedrooms. Extensive decking to two sides of the lodge (facing south and west) ensure that sunshine and wonderful views can be enjoyed throughout the day and evening.
Wild life abounds on the site, with the highlight being the local badgers who can be enticed onto the lodge's lawn with peanut butter sandwiches on evenings throughout the year other than in the middle of winter. Deer, rabbits and squirrels are also often seen from the lodge, and a variety of wild birds visit the woods.

The Cumbria/Lake District
The Lake District is England's largest National Park, and is a national treasure. With woodlands, fells, valleys, picturesque villages and welcoming pubs, it is ideal for a holiday in all four seasons. And then there are the lakes: busy ones, quiet ones, remote ones, some surrounded by woods, some surrounded by fells, some ideal for family fun, and some ideal for a romantic interlude.
Troutbeck valley offers the best all-round base for a Lake District holiday. Walks starting in the valley take you over Wansfell Pike to Ambleside, or up onto the High Street fells, or onto Kirkstone Pass.
Troutbeck is within easy reach of Bowness, Ambleside and Kendal, with Lake Windermere and Ullswater close at hand.
The central position of the valley means that Grasmere, Keswick, Coniston and Hawkshead are all within a short, pleasant drive.
