My family and I spent the most fantastic time staying at this wonderful property. On arrival there was a lovely welcome tray waiting for us - much needed after the long car journey. Other family members arrived by train and found the house very easy to get to by taxi from Windermere Station. The house is beautifully decorated, very comfortable and contains everything you need for a relaxing stay. The location is perfect. We walked somewhere different every day and other trips included taking the boat across the lake to Bowness and the old steam train to Haverthwaite. We had a magical day in Near Sawrey, visiting the Beatrix Potter house and walking through Sawrey Village which you can get to from Near Sawrey by following a beautiful walk across fields. There is a gorgeous cafe in Sawrey (follow the signs for the village store) where the lovely owner supplies hotwater bottles and blankets if you decide to sit outside but feel a little nippy (it is the lake district after all)! Returning home each evening to our wonderful house made our stay so enjoyable. There were 6 of us in total, plus a dog and there was plenty of room for everyone. Thank you for a really memorable stay in the lakes. Would love to return again in the summer. Response: Many thanks. So glad you enjoyed the welcome tray. We hope you can return to Woodside soon |

Woodside is in a perfect location for the Lakes - Windermere, Coniston, Grasmere and more. The owners clearly take pride in keeping the cottage in immaculate condition and with excellent facilities including Wifi, a good TV and DVD player, a dog guard to stop the dogs straying upstairs and a phone. The garden was ideal for us with two dogs - enclosed and you could sit listening to a babbling brook. We were supplied by the owners with really useful notes on the area - shopping, walks, things to see and visit and how to get the best from the cottage. We wanted for nothing and enjoyed the area and then settling down in the cosy lounge exhausted. So many nice things in the area and we are seasoned Lakes visitors! The lakeside terrace of the Lakeside Hotel with a glass of wine (and a beer!)... open to non-residents until 5pm. Ducks, lapping of the lake, occasional boats and sheer relaxation. Early morning walks with the dogs at Fell Foot (just round on the other side of the lake) - great for walking dogs, next to the lake and the River Leven. If you want a bit of life then Bowness has lots of cafes, restaurants, shops and boats for hire. We are vegan and enjoyed bruschetta at the Lakeside Hotel, a fabulous choice at the Lancrigg hotel near Grasmere, caters only for veggies but a bit pricey, Tapas and Thai curry in Bowness. 10/10 to the Owners who telephoned on the first evening to check we were happy - we were! Thank you. Response: Many thanks. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Woodside. We have worked very hard to provide a comfortable base for a Lake District holiday |
