There is so much to like about this "olde world" cottage. The owner is very flexible and helpful. The bedroom is particularly charming. The village itself has the distinction of being where Jane Austen lived for the last years of her life and the house has been turned into an interesting museum. There is also a handy pub serving decent pub food and ale and a pleasant tea room that serves lunches too. A quick level walk also takes you to Alton centre in about 15 minutes. The kitchen area altough serviceable could do with upgrading. The next point may not be a consideration for many but I would have preferred it if I'd known prior to booking (although I was informed prior to accessing property) so am mentioning it here - there is a communal garden area that you need to go through to access the private garden and the back door of the cottage. This area is very much the demise of the neighbour's dogs, just something to be aware of. |

We had a very romantic weekend in this very cosy, and characterful cottage, it ticked all the boxes. Fantastic fireplace to warm yourself after a nice country walk, we slept well in the comfortable bed and we would recommend the local pub nearby. |
