The West Country / Dorset region
Dorset has a most interesting coastline with a variety of watersports and the internationally known Jurassic Coast. A great County for walkers.
Its scenery has been shown to good advantage in TV programmes like 'Country Ways' and 'River Cottage' and some of the movies made from Thomas Hardy Novels.
Those who have not visited Dorset will be amazed by the variety of scenery which exists in this County, those who have will know that there are still new pleasures to explore.
Wimborne / Woodlands area
The variety of entertainment in Poole, Bournemouth, Sandbanks and Wimborne is enough to satisfy even the most active holidaymaker, with magnificent beaches at Sandbanks, the beaches at Shell Bay and Studland which can be approached by an exciting ferry-boat ride.
The possibility of windsurfing at Sandbanks, sailing from Rockley, Harbour trips from Poole and Sandbanks including possibly a visit to Brownsea, famous for its associations with Marconi and Baden Powell, and because it is one of the last refuges for the red squirrel.
Bournemouth has a very active nightlife with attractions to suit all tastes.
More restful sightseeing is available in the New Forest, Christchurch and other local areas. The New Forest offers walks and drives of all types including the Bolderwood Arboretum, and for the ladies, The Witches shop in Burley; Please don't feed the ponies or Donkeys whose home this is. If you come in Autumn the pigs are let loose to eat the acorns so that they don't upset the ponies whose digestion can't cope.
A day out could include taking the car or by foot on a ferry ride to the Isle of Wight, either by Ferry or Hydrofoil.
