The New South Wales region
The Southern Highlands in New South Wales are located just 1.5 hours drive south of Sydney and are known for the beautiful countryside, with rolling hills, waterfalls, forested areas and vistas stretching across the fertile farmland.
The area is dotted with small towns such as Bowral, home to the Donald Bradman Museum and famous for its Tulip Festival held every September/October, and Robertson, known for its potatoes and where the film "Babe" was made. There are a number of historic villages such as Berrima with its beautifully preserved buildings, cafes and shops, and Burrawang dating back to 1862 with its original cottages and the award-winning local pub.
There is no end of things to see and do in the region, whether it is visiting the many art galleries and craft shops, dining at the numerous cafes, restaurants and pubs, browsing for antiques, or sampling the Highlands' cool climate wines at the various vineyards. There are a number of country markets held at the weekends throughout the area. For the more active, one can play golf at the many excellent courses, go horse riding or bushwalking.
Wildes Meadow is a very picturesque and peaceful hamlet located just outside Burrawang, perfect for a relaxing getaway. It is a 10 minute drive to Robertson and around 20 minutes to Bowral, and also well located for trips to Fitzroy Falls with its stunning views out over Morton National Park, or down the mountain to the beautiful Kangaroo Valley.
