The Western Cape region

The Southern Cape boasts majestic mountains, beautiful indigenous forests, long white sandy beaches and a network of interconnecting lakes offering a multitude of related activities to enjoy. . Wilderness, situated in the heart of the Garden Route, is an excellent base from which to explore the Region.

Take a day's journey over the old pass built by Italian prisoners of war to Oudtshoorn, watch the sun rise on a Meerkats Expedition, scramble through one of the 7 wonders of the World, "the Cango Caves" and taste wine and our famous port in Calitzdorp,

Game Reserves are in abundance and here one can view most of Africa's Big 5, lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. In the winter months enjoy whale watching from Mosselbay to Plettenberg Bay when they enter the bays to give birth.

Travel the Seven Passes Road to Knysna, shop at our famous Sedgefield food market on Saturday mornings and enjoy the Sun setting over the sea from Gericke's Point with a bottle of wine.

The Southern Cape is famous for it's many magnificent Golf Courses to name but a few .. Fancourt Golf Estate in George and Simola in Knysna.

This area is also known for it's temperate climate, the warmest periods between February and May. The winters are beautiful often with clear fresh days but cold nights.

Wilderness

The Wilderness is a small village nestled between mountains and sea. A network of lakes link to the Touw's River which flows out to sea.

Birding, canoeing, Kloofing, mountain biking, kite boarding, sailing, paragliding, surfing, fishing and hiking are some of the immediate activities to be enjoyed in the area.

The village itself is small but has a vibrant night life with good restaurants and a night market every Friday evening.

There are a few shops in the village but if one wants to shop the best is to visit the Garden Route Mall which is a 15min drive away.
