About the home
Designed by multi-award winning architects, the eco houses are both contemporary and warm and welcoming.

Open the glass doors from the living room to the sea facing deck and watch whales and dolphin in the bay below or waves crashing against the rocks along the coastline. The dining room / kitchen lead onto a secluded deck built into fynbos, the Cape's unique floral kingdom - a birders paradise, peaceful and protected.
The main bedroom with glass doors opening onto a private deck and spectacular views of the ocean, takes your breath away. All bedrooms have beautiful views.
The house is fully equipped with fireplace, quality furnishings, appliances and the finest cotton percale linen. The spaces have been created for peace, reflection and conversation. Play games, bird watch, do a puzzle, read or simply enjoy the view - there is no television to spoil the atmosphere.

The barbecue is on the protected forest deck. Barbecue under the glorious African stars.
The plains above the cliffs are home to wildlife including antelope, zebra, karakul, porcupine and bush pig.
Ballots Bay where the river flows into the sea is a fisherman’s paradise and the pebbly beach is perfect for foraging and exploring or paddling in the bay.
The reserve is accessed via a private road that winds over rivers and up and down steep slopes that some call challenging, we call marvelous. But don’t be put off; it is easily accessed in ordinary vehicles.

The Western Cape - arguably the most beautiful region of South Africa - is home not only to endless beaches, rugged mountains, lush forests, fertile farming lands but also to vast tracts of desert and semi-desert areas. The capital, Cape Town with it's landmark Table Mountain, is the first choice of most visitors, but the rest of the region is marvelous to explore. Route 62, starting in Worcestor, winds through quaint small towns, vineyards, wine cellars and spectacular scenery. It includes parts of the semi-desret Small Karoo; an area with a vast array of flowering succulents and small animals. Not to be missed is the Mongoose man, Ostrich farms and the Cango Caves near Oudtshoorn.
but the Garden Route, 4 hours along the coast is essential to explore.
The Wilderness / Garden Route area
The Wilderness / Garden Route region has it all - beautiful white beaches, ancient forests and the unique Cape Floral Kingdom. The climate is temperate, summers not too hot and winters not too cold.
Cliff Top Houses are situated in Ballots Heights, 12 km from the small town of Wilderness. 10 minutes drive away is famous surfer’s paradise, Victoria Bay, which boasts not only world class surfing, but also an excellent swimming beach. George with its shops, restaurants and cinemas is 15 minutes away. Wilderness, also 15 minutes away has beautiful beaches, lagoon and river, canoeing, great walks, restaurants and country markets.
Sedgefield, 25 minutes away is famous for its award winning Saturday farmers market with gourmet organic products grown in the vicinity. The serene inland lakes flow into the sea here and the beaches are amongst the finest on the Garden Route.
Knysna, 40 minutes away, is famous for it's tidal estuary, fresh oysters, excellent restaurants and beautiful scenery.
The Garden Route is a golfers paradise featuring the most spectacular golf courses in South Africa. It was named 2007 Golf Destination of the Year for Africa by the International Association for Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO)
Other Garden Route destinations like Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn and Plettenberg Bay are within easy reach.

We stayed for 3 nights at Cliff Top and were blown away with the house and location, photos just dont do it justice. Having the floor to ceiling windows in the bathroom, bedroom, and lounge make the most of the magnificant view. Sally was a wonderful host and couldnt do enough to help, she even picked up some cheese from the local farmers market for us. Even though it's a struggle to tear yourself away from the property, be sure to stroll around the adjacent forest - we saw loads of wildlife including dolphins. If you want somewhere to relax and recharge, look no further, you cant get a better house and setting, thanks Sally. |
