The Lake District National Park lies at the heart of Cumbria and contains well known and much loved holiday destinations such as Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston and Grasmere, here there are lots of charming Lakeland villages to discover and visitor attractions for all the family. The northern and western lakes have miles of untouched natural rugged beauty and rural villages as well as being home to the historic northern lakes town of Keswick with its many shops, pubs and restaurants; providing a great holiday base. Other areas to discover include the Eden Valley, Cartmel peninsula, south east Cumbria and the Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall area; all equally beautiful and very handy for day trips into the lakes.

The lovely town of Silloth is just a mile and a half away offering a collection of shops, restaurants and pubs for a delicious bite to eat and a lovely glass of wine on an evening. It also has a golf course for those golfing enthusiasts so don't forget to pack your clubs! The size of the Western Lake District ensures that visitors will always find something to do in this beautiful spot and of course, plenty of outdoor activities to suit everyone from walking and cycling to horse riding and swinging from trees at Go Ape! Other attractions include the Honister Slate Mine and a handful of museums where visitors can delve into all sorts of historical information. Attractions that the whole family will enjoy include an aquarium and The Gincase – a farm with many different animals to learn about! The Western Lake District is a truly magnificent and stunning area that serves as a picturesque and fun filled place to enjoy your holiday!
