The Cumbria/Lake District

The Lake District National Park lies at the heart of Cumbria and contains well known and much loved holiday destinations such as Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston and Grasmere, here there are lots of charming Lakeland villages to discover and visitor attractions for all the family. The northern and western lakes have miles of untouched natural rugged beauty and rural villages as well as being home to the historic northern lakes town of Keswick with its many shops, pubs and restaurants; providing a great holiday base. Other areas to discover include the Eden Valley, Cartmel peninsula, south east Cumbria and the Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall area; all equally beautiful and very handy for day trips into the lakes.

Millhouse is just one mile from the small village of Hesket New Market where you will find a village shop and the Old Crown Inn which is owned by the community and even brews its own beer! The mighty Caldbeck Fells provide the perfect backdrop for a cycle ride along the quiet country lanes or take to the hills on foot and enjoy some fantastic views from Blencathra, Skiddaw or High Pike. The Caldbeck Fells are more remote than areas such as Keswick and so you can really escape the crowds and find your own little spot to sit down, relax and just admire the view!
