Situated right beside the sea, Whitstable boasts spectacular sunsets and miles of beaches with their distinctive beach-huts and breakwaters. “Great Location for town, station and the beach”
Stayed at Breakwater Cottage for a long weekend and we didnt have to take the car out once ! From the cottage you can walk to the town (which has many restaurants) to the sea as well as to the railway station nearby . We also found a bowling alley within walking distance for when the weather took a down turn.
The accomodation was clean and comfortable and we managed to stay warm even though the weather was freezing. My children 7 & 4 loved the bunkbeds ! We would definitely come back again , thanks for having us.
A fantastic house that was ideal for us, our children and our parents.
Great location - the only downside was that the weather refused to co-operate but the location of the house meant it was... more

“Beautiful cottage in fantastic location”
We had a lovely few days staying at Breakwater Cottage. The cottage was very comfortable, spacious and beautifully furnished. It is also located just a stones throw from the lovely boutique shop of Harbour Street. Perfect for a short break or a longer let, and ideal for young children.

“Excellent Location and fab House!!”
Just spent the weekend at breakwater cottage with my partner and some friends! Excellent location literally a two minute walk from Harbour/ High Street.
Fab house, had everything and more that we needed!! Loved the decor and the street. Super clean! Nice quiet area!
The owner Mr Rataj was very efficient in his dealings with the booking, providing useful information about the property and local area as well as checking we had all we needed- nice friendly man! He was also very quick in arranging the return of damage deposit at the end of the holiday too.
We stayed at Breakwater cottage on Friday and Saturday night in Nov to find a beautiful cottage which was within a few mins walk to most of what Whitstable has to offer. Had execllent meals at Wheeers, Pearson's Arms and Lobster Shack. Rafal (the owner) also provided us with free logs for the fireplace which was very useful during for the cold nights. Bedrooms were good size, nicely decorated and had good beds / matresses. Kitchen was also fully equipped with lots of glasses and cutlery for use. Would definitely recommend staying here for a short break in Whitstable. Would be nice if wi-fi is added to the property as my vodafone 3G network did not work the whole weekend.

“Fantastic accomodation right in the heart of Whitstable”
Breakwater is a beautifully decorated cottage in a central location that is in easy reach of all of Whitstable's highlights. The cottage was well thought out and comfortable, a real feeling of luxury. Small, tidy enclosed garden which our 10 month old loved. Nice quiet area and as we stayed midweek had a parking space right outside of the cottage.
The owner Mr Rataj was very efficient in his dealings with the booking, providing useful information about the property and local area as well as checking we had all we needed. He was also very swift in arranging the return of damage deposit at the end of the holiday too.

“Great location, perfect for families, excellennt choice of property.”
We stayed for 4 nights in August, with two 10 year olds and a four year old. Plently of room for living area and cooking. 3 great sized bedrooms, with really comfy beds! Garden was great as we could let the children go in and out as they pleased. Kitchen facilities were good and we cooked everything from roast dinner to pancakes! We ate outside a few times too as there was a lovely eating area outside too. Lovely short walk to the sea front, harbour and town. Lots to do within walking distance so the car stayed where it was for most of the week. Sea front had lovely flat path for running, (if you are feeling energentic!). Kids took their scooters which kept them happy too! Will probably rebook in the future.

“fantastic holiday”
We arrived at the cottage to find it immaculate and fantastically clean. It is a very easy house to live in. The location is brilliant but the parking could be an issue for some.
Breakwater Cottage is perfect for a relaxing holiday in the seaside town of Whitstable.
The cottage was booked with the minimum of fuss and upon arrival, we found a very clean, tidy, tastefully decorated property. We stayed as a group of four adults and one infant (just one year old) and the cottage provided plenty of space for all of us. The three bedrooms were of a decent size (main room containing kingsize bed) and all the beds were extremely comfortable. The downstairs living space was pretty open plan with a decently equipped kitchen and the modern bathroom at the back of the property was more than suitable.
There is a small but tidy and well thought out garden at the rear of the cottage. It is also very safe and secure which is great if you have little ones running around!
The cottage is in a great location being only a 5 minute stroll from the sea front, shops and harbour of Whitstable.
There is free parking at the cottage although it is on street and you have to compete with day trippers, other cottage renters and local residents for a place outside Breakwater. This wasn't a major issue however as once we got a space, we didn't need to move the cars often.
Breakwater cottage is also very close to some great places to visit for the day. There is a great sandy beach at Broadstairs and the historic town of Cantebury is only a 20 min drive away.
There are many restaurants to eat at in Whitstable but the pick for us was Pearsons. It might not look much from the outside but the atmosphere and food were superb.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Breakwater Cottage in Whitstable and would definitely recommend.
In order to give a complete review however, there were a few points that we have suggested to the owner could be improved. A microwave would have been handy when heating food and sterilising bottles for our little one and more plates and cutlery would have meant we weren't washing up as often (a dishwasher is provided). The owner said these issues are already being sorted so don't let these minor points put you off!

“Lovely seaside retreat”
Beatifully decorated cottage, very vintage feel. Excellent quality beds and good quality bedding which was immaculate. Excellent location very accessable to harbour, beach etc. arrived on a Thursday day time so parking was not an issue but it is just off road parking there is not a specific parking place.
Toilet and shower downstairs as per many original victorian properties. House is end of terrace and next to a very pretty church garden.
Garden simple and well designed, amazing artificial grass - nice eating area. Would definitely stay again
A group of 5 of us stayed at the property for the weekend. Picking up the keys was very straightforward and we were all able to park in the road outside.
“Lovely house with safe garden in a great location”
We had a lovely week at Breakwater cottage in June 2012. Our twins (2 years old) loved the secure garden and it's collection of snails and the house was well furnished and comfortable, without being cluttered.
Location was great, with it being a 5 mins walk (or 20 mins if every door step has to be stood on as you go down the street !) to the main street / shops and beach. Whitstable is a great location for families with a pebbly beach to explore and a lovely kids playground up by the castle ... we didn't need to do much more to keep us entertained !
Only downside is parking which on a bank holiday weekend was sometimes very difficult to get parked in the same street as the house ... but that's a common Whitstable problem and it encourages you to explore Whitstable on foot rather than head further a field.
Also, note that the bathroom is downstairs which is not clear from the property details.

“Perfect cottage - immaculate condition and top location”
Breakwater Cottage was a fantastic find. The house is on a lovely, quiet street tucked behind the main shopping streets of Whitstable - the perfect location - and is furnished beautifully. The owner Rafal was very easy to deal with and made sure that we had everything we needed. He was also very flexible when we mentioned that we would have friends staying for a couple of nights. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone.
What a gem. I needed a little cottage to bring my young daughter and her grandparents for a few days away of quality time together. I could not have have found a better place. Clean, comfortable, well equipped (everything is new) and spacious enough for all of us and a cute little garden too. Great for children as there is not too much mischief they can get themselves into - the garden was simple enough that i didn't have to worry what she was doing all the time, and with a high chair kept at the property we couldn't have asked for more. It is also in a very good location - close to everything. We also travelled to whitstable by train and found it quick and easy to walk to the cottage from the station. The owner was kind and enthusiastic about the cottage and called us well ahead of arrival day to give check in details and ask if there was anything else we needed. We had a very happy stay and would recommend this cottage to anyone.

“beautiful house in lovely village”
it was our third trip to whitstable and the nicest house we stayed in! just as promised in the pictures: spacious and stylish with fresh flowers in the bedrooms, art on the walls, a great mix of contemporary and vintage furniture, ... Renovated with respect to the existing feaures and an abundance of light. Quiet, with enough space to park in front of the house. great location too, just walk to end of the street and you are right in the middle of the main street with its shops and restaurants and close to the beach. we would like to come back and are already planning ...
“Modern Elegance in the fabulously vibrant and beautiful Whitstable”
We had an amazing weekend in Whitstable staying at Breakwater Cottage. Our host was super enthusiastic and ensured that we had everything we needed to have a great weekend. Breakwater cottage has a minimalist modern elegance about it. It feels clean and fresh and beautifully decorated with some great vintage and shabby chic pieces which really make you feel like you are staying in a chic boutique hotel. We picked Breakwater because it looked lovely in the pictures but also because it had a king size bed in the master bedroom (many others just had a double) and also its close location to the centre of Whitstable. It delivered on all these points and more. Very cute garden (see if you can spot the interesting thing about it!), next to a gorgeous church with an equally beautiful garden. Things of note - flowers in the bedrooms, soft towels, log burner, fresh coffee, interesting books......You should know - Bathroom and toilet are on ground floor and stairs are fairly steep. It was no problem for us. Whitstable itself is amazing, great food, great shops, working harbour, long beaches. We had awesome dinners at The Sportsman, Whitstable Oyster company (book all restaurants) and the fish and ship shop! We thoroughly enjoyed exploring Whitstable and walking for hours along the shingle beaches. Would definitely recommend to friends and will almost certainly return to BreakWater. Even in the rain we had a good time!
