Bowline is a beautifully restored Victorian 1 bed apartment situated in the heart of Whitstable's famous Harbour Street and is the sister apartment to Bunting - both situated in the same building. We have blended classic Victorian fundamentals with a great splash of contemporary style and modern appliances.

The colourful and stylish living area and large kitchen diner makes the this the ideal place for exploring all that Whitstable has to offer in terms of independent shops, eateries, the harbour, the Whitstable Yacht Club, stunning sunsets and of course the beach - none of which is more than a 2 minute walk away.

Bowline is newly converted(and therefore incorporating modern building requirements) and on the second floor of a lovely Victorian building(above the whiting post boutique).

Access is by two flight of stairs and all accommodation is on the same floor; one double bedroom(with Egyptian cotton sheets and coir matting flooring) a stylish living/dining area with dining for four and a large sofa (turns into double sofa bed)and an open plan galley kitchen,and attractive bathroom(l enclosed shower and roll top slipper bath ), combining Victorian character with contemporary styling and modern facilities(the well equipped kitchen has oven & hob, fridge-freezer, microwave, kettle,washer/dryer, toaster & dishwasher with plenty or workspace to get creative with our local seafood delicacies.

The lounge has flat-screen TV,DVD, Freeview. Free wireless (and wired connection in lounge). A vintage look Junckers black floor in the kitchen and lounge, with whitewashed walls and funky wallpaper in the lounge.

Castles(Dover,Leeds,Walmer), fishing ports and medieval towns make this corner of Britain endlessly fascinating, while the countryside provides wonderful walks, both coastal and inland.


Whitstable has long been associated with locally caught seafood and in particular oysters, it has a working harbour with a small fleet of fishing boats that catch fish daily for sale in the harbour fish market.

In recent times,Whitstable and its vicinity has become nationally acclaimed for its restaurants and places to eat.

The countryside nearby is great for walking and cycling with very little to interrupt you between Whitstable and Canterbury except woodland - there is a great ride which takes you to Canterbury on the Crab and Winkle Way (the Victorian railway line which took fish and oysters to London ) now set up for walkers and riders to enjoy themselves free from the hassle of traffic.

Whitstable has been voted the town in the UK with the most varied and healthy independent shop scene; and you are staying right in the middle of that! The Whiting Post and its sister shop, The Clothes Horse, are both essential parts of the retail experience. There are many other shops well worth a visit.

The beach at Whitstable and Tankerton are wonderful places for swimming,water sports or just watching the fabulous sunsets.

"Great location for a short stay"

We booked to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and were very happy with the accommodation its Slap bang in the middle of the high street a great location to base yourself from. A really nice property to spend a weekend in but I wouldn't have been able to stay much longer as being over 6ft tall and spending a fair while celebrating with my wife in the many pubs within walking distance I was constantly banging my head on the low ceilings. Being our anniversary weekend I thought it would be unthinkable that my wife would allow me to watch the champions league final but she was willing but sadly the television reception was so bad that we HAD to return to the pub to catch the game(hardship). The wifi was also a bit hit and miss but the homemade lemon drizzle cake which was left for us by the owners when we arrived back on the Saturday afternoon was a lovely touch.

"Wonderful Apartment."

I stayed at Bowline during my time in Whitstable for Business. As I travel alot for business I have stayed at many locations however Bowline was absolutely fantastic. Very comfortable with everything you would need for your stay . Bowline was very clean and decorated to a very high standard . Close to all local amenities and at a wonderful price. I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to others . It exceeded all of my expectations. You would not be disappointed.

"Great seaside holiday apartment"

Fabulous position being just a couple of minutes walk to the seafront and extremely close to all the great restaurants that Whitstable has to offer. Apartment itself was immaculate, checkin and booking very straightforward and very stylish too!

"Mid week stay in Kent"

We booked Bowline at late notice and were really impressed with the process and communications. The property itself was a really well executed rooftop conversion and presented to a high level. ( I have been reading way too many estate agents reviews) The property is centrally located with many bars and restaurants within yards of the property. We were blessed with great weather and we were able to take advantage of the many walks available nearby. The (stony beach is just minutes walk for the brilliant sunsets (weather permitting). Parking was available on street in nearby roads and did not cause us a problem, I am not sure whether the same would be true in peak season. We were very impressed with the property and Whitstable and would like to visit again in the not too distant future. Highly recommended.....

"Lovely Whitstable hideaway - perfect for a night on the tiles"

If I could move in here, would be a very happy bunny (or eaglet). On the second floor and in a cosy central location, this is a gem of a little eyrie. Which view to take in? Glimpse of sea, chimney pots a go-go, lovely back gardens or terracotta roofscapes of old Whitstable? Up with the gulls and up for somelarks. Lovely vantage point showing off fresh perspectives of the high street: quiet enough to relax, unwind and close enough to be nosy and people-watch. Modishly kitted out, simple and stylish. A real treat of a retreat.

"Beautiful apartment in just the best location"

Cannot fault the apartment , a lovely welcome from the staff in the shop below , beautiful cake on arrival and an immaculate apartment to stay in . We really can't fault anything and it's central location means you are a few steps away from shops restaurants and the sea , will definitely return . X

"Great location"

This was a very nice flat in an excellent location. It was right in the heart of Whitstable town, located directly above a fun, funky boutique. It was a little tricky to find it in time to pull over temporarily to pick up the keys, so we had to backtrack the first time. Parking is a bit tight but exploring the adjacent residential roads we found free parking before long. The flat itself was very clean and with a fresh, modern interior that felt newly designed. I traveled with my 2 young kids and sister so my sister and I shared the double bed in the bedroom, with the kids on the sofa bed. The only complaint was that we repeatedly bumped our heads on the walls, which slope sharply in all rooms. In general, for a couple or small family, I would highly recommend this flat.

"Perfect Base"

I travelled with my wife and young son. The flat was right in the centre of town, clean and well fitted, with a pleasant view over rooftops or along Harbour St. Communication with the owner was friendly and efficient, and we had a delicious lemon drizzle cake waiting for us in the kitchen on arrival. There was a very pleasant atmosphere about the place. Due to wanting some grown-up time, we opted to give our son the separate bedroom, so the only compromise for us was having to sleep on the sofabed - I've never experienced a particularly comfortable one, but that's just a fact of life, not a reflection on the high standard of accommodation. It was certainly easy to get out/put away again. If I were to stay in Whitstable again, this flat would remain on my shortlist. Highly recommended.

"Just what we needed!"

This is a great flat in a perfect location ! The flat was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and a lovely size. We will definitely be back. If only you did short breaks in August we could celebrate my birthday with dinner at Pearsons Arms! Thank you for such a wonderful stay.
