The Kent region

Kent,The Garden of England, has everything from the rolling hills of the North Downs Way to the surprising solitude of the north Kent estuaries and marshes. Canterbury boasts its spectacular medieval cathedral while near Sandwich at Richborough you can experience the early Roman settlement of Britain.

Castles(Dover,Leeds,Walmer), fishing ports and medieval towns make this corner of Britain endlessly fascinating, while the countryside provides wonderful walks, both coastal and inland.

Whitstable has long been associated with locally caught seafood and in particular oysters, it has a working harbour with a small fleet of fishing boats that catch fish daily for sale in the harbour fish market.

In recent times,Whitstable and its vicinity has become nationally acclaimed for its restaurants and places to eat.

The countryside nearby is great for walking and cycling with very little to interrupt you between Whitstable and Canterbury except woodland - there is a great ride which takes you to Canterbury on the Crab and Winkle Way (the Victorian railway line which took fish and oysters to London ) now set up for walkers and riders to enjoy themselves free from the hassle of traffic.

Whitstable has been voted the town in the UK with the most varied and healthy independent shop scene; and you are staying right in the middle of that! The Whiting Post and its sister shop, The Clothes Horse, are both essential parts of the retail experience. There are many other shops well worth a visit.

The beach at Whitstable and Tankerton are wonderful places for swimming, water sports or just watching the fabulous sunsets.

"Fabulous property"

Really beautiful property - I would live there if I could! Nice and warm, well decorated, great location. The lemon drizzle cake left for us was delicious too!

"Good and well located"

Enjoyed our stay. Nice modern flat. Living room needs a bit more spacious seating if there are 4 of you saying but otherwise very pleased. Couldn't be better placed for the town and parking close by was easier than we had expected. Would recommend.

"Unexpectedly nice place"

This is a two bed apartment which we rented for the cost of a one bed apartment. At £ 120 per night it is not cheap but this is Whitsable. Location is perfect with easy access to beach and shops. Parking is a bit of a nightmare so you may find you have to leave your car some distance from the apartment. We opted to park up and not use our car at all. The apartment itself is nicely furnished with a comfy bed and good shower. Well equipped kitchen with all mod cons. Things which were not so good was the noise from the street in the main bedroom and the chairs in the lounge which were not very comfortable to sit on for any length of time.

"Pretty flat in fabulous position"

Bunting is a very pleasant base for a stay in the lovely seaside town of Whitstable. It is over a fabulous shop on Harbour Street which is right in the hub of the fashionable part of town and two streets away from the sea front. However this doesn't make it noisy just convenient. There were some louder revellers but not too late and not too loud. There is a long stairway to walk up to the flat but its not a problem if you're averagely able. The sitting room looks out over the street with a pretty little bay window which is nice for watching the world go by. The chairs and sofa in here look great but honestly, they're not the most comfortable and you can't curl up on them. I would have prefered to see some comfy sofas and more seating as the flat is for four people and there are two chairs and one very small two seated sofa. The beds are very comfortable, not too firm or too soft with nice duvets and pillows. The front bedroom has a built in wardrobe with plenty of hangers but no drawers or surface for toiletries etc which meant I had to put mine on the floor. Maybe a chest of drawers in the bay window would be helpful and some hooks on the back of the door for dressing gowns, coats etc. the second bedroom has the same double bed, the room is very small with no room for wardrobe or drawers but there is a coat stand and lots of hooks on the back of the door. The kitchen is very pleasant with a big window looking over the back. There is a washing machine, dishwasher, cooker and fridge so not much else in the way of cupboard space for food etc but not really a problem, it is all kitted out with nice crockery etc not second hand make dos but strangley only 5 mugs. The table is an old pine top drop leaf which looks very nice and vintage but is really quite rickety for four people to use. The bathroom is lovely, it has a huge shower, nice big heated towel rail/radiator and lots of natural light from the big window. The towels provided are the waffle type which can be a bit scratchy so if you like fluffy towels I would suggest you take your own. There were lots of nice thoughtful touches like hand soap in the bathroom, tea, coffee, sugar, oil etc in the kitchen also all the washing and washing up stuff needed in the kitchen, an umberella and a lovely home made lemon drizzle cake wrapped up with brown parchment and string! The weather turned while we were there and Adrian popped over to check if we were warm enough and to show us how to put the heating on which was considerate but we didn't need it. There was free wifi which worked all the time, there is a large tv but we didn't use it. There are lots of nice places to eat within one or two minutes walk. There is no allocated parking but all the little streets have free parking with no permits needed so we parked just up from the flat and our friends who visited us on Saturday parked two streets away. Overall there are a few things I would like to be different but it was a very nice flat and it seemed as if the owners had put a lot of care and thought into equipping it and its in a fantastic spot.

"A lovely weekend in a lovely place."

Bunting is a really delightful holiday apartment above a shop. It had everything we needed and the beds were so comfortable. I am looking forward to returning soon.

"Good place to stay in Whitstable"

I went with my boyfriend for a couple of days and Adrian was really helpful with the booking after we originally wanted to book Bowline. The apartment itself was very well laid out and looked lovely, obviously a lot of thought has gone into it's design. The front room was really noisy in the morning and the blinds let in a lot of light. In the end we swapped to the smaller room which suited us fine. The shops and restaurants in Whitstable are great at the beach is so close and absolutely fabulous. There were only a couple of things like not being able to find tea towels, which we eventually found and the shower took ages and ages to drain away so you end up standing in a sort of bath! All in all we really enjoyed it.

"You can have your cake - and eat it"

We really enjoyed our stay at Bunting, and the freshly baked cake that was waiting for us when we arrived. The apartment is tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished. More than ample for our family of three. Close to everything you need but surprisingly quiet. We've visited Whitstable several times and this definitely rates as one of the best places we've stayed in, I've already recommended it to a friend.

"Beautiful flat, perfect location"

From the booking experience onwards, it's hard to fault our stay at Bunting. The flat is incredibly tastefully decorated and furnished with everything you need for a relaxing break. We spent most of our time inside the flat sitting at the kitchen table, enjoying the light and warmth from the large window. It's perfectly located for the harbour, walks to Tankerton and onwards, and pottering around Whitstable's lovely shops. The only improvement that could be made to the flat is to have a larger, more comfortable sofa for lounging on. On colder, rainier days it would be nice to curl up in front of the tv. We would highly recommend William & Browns (The Tapas) and Samphire if you're thinking of eating out. And The Pearsons Arms is perfect for an afternoon pint. We had a really fantastic break and would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

"Stylish and comfortable"

This 2 bedroom accommodation was stylish, modern, comfortable and very well equipped. There are two comfortable double beds, made up with fresh, white crispy linen and a large shower room with warm fluffy towels. The kitchen included washing machine and dishwasher and had tea, coffee and milk for us to use on arrival. Centrally located so the shops and the sea front are a stones throw away, this flat is perfect for a weekend away. The greeting we received from the lovely lady in the shop was warm and welcoming and we would have no hesitation in staying again or recommending this flat to anyone else.
