The Kent region
Kent, originally Cantia, is a county in southeast England, and is one of the home counties. It borders East Sussex, Surrey and Greater London and has a defined boundary with Essex in the middle of the River Thames estuary. The ceremonial county boundaries of Kent include the shire county of Kent and the unitary borough of Medway. Kent has a nominal border with France halfway through the Channel Tunnel. Maidstone is its county town and historically Rochester and Canterbury have been accorded city status, though only the latter still holds it.
Whitstable is a seaside town in Northeast Kent, Southeast England. It is approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) north of the city of Canterbury and approximately 3 kilometres (2 mi) west of the seaside town of Herne Bay. It is part of the City of Canterbury district and has a population of about 30,000.
Whitstable is famous for its oysters, which have been collected in the area since at least Roman times. The town itself dates back to before the writing of the Domesday Book. Whitstable's distinctive character is popular with tourists, and its maritime heritage is celebrated with the annual oyster festival. Freshly caught shellfish are available throughout the year at several seafood restaurants and pubs in the town.

"Cute and convenient accomodation at budget price"
Everything in this self-standing cottage is made to make you feel at home.
From the lovingly made decorations to the helpful gifts (pens, hamper with a great selection, beautiful cleaning supplies), the owner is definitely doing her best to make her guests feel welcome and confortable.
An extra bed was set up for my teenage son. Both beds were quite confortable.
We enjoyed breakfasts and dinners in the lovely lavender-filled courtyard. Totally private. And the private spot for the car just behind the fence.
The place is quiet, if for the seagulls concert !
It is only 200m from the main road where the shopping starts (great fish and chips just there), almost a mile of pretty architecture and great shopping and the start of a 1/2 mile walk through nature to the beach. Perfect location.
We would return without a doubt.
