George Street is just perfect. The house is huge and homely. The convenient location is handy for walking into town. We have stayed in the house for the past 3 years and are already looking at dates for next year. It is perfect for our large family to all spend time together, an extra bonus for us is that the dogs have been welcome. We always find lots to do in Whitby, the open top tour bus, the ghost walks, the beach, the Abbey, shopping, pubs and lots more, but always after a busy day its nice to get back to such a comfy house. |

We stayed here for a week in September 2011. There were 7 off us, two OAP's, one under 2, and 2 couples. The house is very well set up and we had a really lovely week. There are 42 steps over 4 floors, which to be honest was a bit much for the OAP's, as they ended up on the top floor. The basement (down 12 steps) has a great kitchen with everything you could need. A utility room with a washer and a large dining room. On the ground floor there is a large lounge and a little separate room with a bed settee. There is also a landing toilet. On the first floor is a very large double bedroom with enough room for the travel cot and large bathroom. On the top floor there is a single bedded room with a fantastic view of the sea and Abbey over the roof tops, and another room with a double and single bed. Also a shower room this works off a pump and can be noisy. We ended up doing a bit of bed moving so each couple could have their own room without having to use the bed settee. But it would work really well for a large family. The house has on street parking and even with 3 cars we didn't find it a problem. The house is in a really good position, very easy walking distance into the town. We found the house to be very good value for all of us for the week. We ate the Magpie very good, make sure you book a table to avoid the queues and our favourite place of Mister chips Fantastic. |

we really enjoyed our stay despite mostly shoddy weather. the house is large and comfortable and, while not far from the town centre as the crow flies, if you're pushing a buggy you'll end up doing a lot of walking up/down very steep slopes because the shortcuts involve steps. the house is in good condition - we were an extended family party with age ranging from 20months to 65 years. the kitchen is well equipped, and there are multiple cd/dvd facilities. A large dining table in the dining room next to the kitchen which is cosy and relaxing. The house, bathrooms and the kitchen utensils were all clean to a good standard The bedrooms are huge, so you could easily fit a travel cot in any of them. there are a few minuses - the mattresses are past it with bumpy springs. I dod mention this in my feedback to the owner but got no response. the double bedroom on the top floor - the window leaked one wet and windy night, soaking the bed - fortunately the (very comfy) sofabed was unoccupied the shower on the top floor doesn't drain very well, although we did discover a trick to it involving flushing the loo - but be warned, this methos makes a brief but scary noise in the bathroom below! All in all a great house, we had a lovely time and if they got new mattresses we would go there again. |
