House | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 5
Located by the sea in the fashionable East Side and having spectacular sea views, this Whitby holiday cottage is ideal for those wishing to experience a traditional cottage. It is just a few minutes away from town's shops, cafes and restaurants and very close to the bottom of the 199 stone steps that lead to Whitby Abbey.
Cook's Cottage, a Grade II listed, former fisherman's cottage, sleeps up to five people in two bedrooms. As you walk through the front door you realise that you have found a haven of peace for your break away. The combined, stylish sitting and dining room is the first room you encounter with its cosy log burning fire; ideal for cooler nights. It adjoins the well equipped, modern kitchen which has superb views over the harbour and is sure to inspire you with culinary ideas during your stay.
Up the typical Whitby, windy staircase boasting a wonderful view of the sea, you will find the main bedroom and house bathroom. This bedroom contains both a double and a single bed and is equipped with a superb, log burning fire and comfortable seating area to sit and read your favourite holiday book in peace.
The bathroom comprises a bath and over bath shower. It has magnificent views out to sea for those wishing to have a long, lingering bath.
The most stunning room in the property is undoubtedly the upper, twin bedroom that also doubles up as a second sitting room. Its views are some of the best in Whitby and you can even catch a glimpse of St. Mary's Church at the top of the cliffs out of the small, rear windows too. With comfortable seating for your entire party, it is a great room to relax and watch all the passing fishing boats and harbour activities or to perhaps relax and watch a movie on an evening. This cottage has the benefit of free Wi-Fi access.
Cook's Cottage is just 30 seconds from the beach. Popular sights such as Whitby Abbey, The Captain Cook Memorial Museum and Whitby Art Gallery & Museum are all a short walk from Henrietta Street.
Travelling to and from Whitby is made easy with the train station being only a 10 minute walk away. Alternatively, if travelling by car, there is a public car park approximately 15 minutes' walk away. Whitby is served by Durham Tees Valley Airport located 46 miles away so please allow 1 hr 15 minute travel time for this journey.
