The Yorkshire region

Whitby has a unique old world charm and for centuries has provided a safe haven for shipping and fishing fleets.

As well as being the birth place of Captain Cook, Whitby was also once the main whaling port for the North of England but has now become a key tourist area being located on the heritage coast and on the door step of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

The town of Whitby itself is a charming mixture of old and new boasting a number of high quality restaurants and wine bars together with the more traditional pubs and cafes.

Shopping also has lots to offer with a wide variety of boutiques, craft shops and general outlets to browse. The beach can be accessed from the town and stretches for several miles to the quiet back water of Sandsend if you are feeling energetic.

Many thanks Christine for your kind review which is much appreciated.

The cottage we feel is a great location for kids to be safe and secure but yet enough space for them to let off steam, and we all know if the kids are happy then that makes for a better time for the Mums and Dads !!

We look forward to welcoming you to the cottage again in the warmer weather.

Kind regards - Martin and Julie

"Homely and well equipped"

This cottage is on the banks of the river Esk, very close to a magnificent viaduct - very scenic and rural with ducks and the odd rabbit hopping about. Across the far side of the river is a local rail… More

Thank you for your review. The steam train is certainly a great sight and is commonplace daily on the rail track at the side of the cottage making its way to Grosmont and Pickering. Your weekend will have coincided with the 40's weekend in Pickering so hopefully you were able to experience a great atmosphere and frequent the surrounding areas as well as Whitby.

We hope to welcome you to the cottage again in the future.

Kind regards - Martin and Julie
