Northern England region

The Yorkshire coastal towns of Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington have been attracting visitors for hundreds of years who come to enjoy the miles of clean sandy beaches, pretty fishing ports and to walk along magnificent cliff top paths. Situated on the edge of the North York Moors national park there is something for everyone.

The picturesque fishing port of Whitby is noted for its narrow streets and cliff top abbey which dominates the skyline and is well known as the place where Bram Stoker was inspired to write his famous novel 'Dracula'. With the "199 steps" up to the church and abbey, ghost walks, steam bus and the open top bus for a sunny tour it's a perfect place to spend a well earned break.

Further south lies Scarborough which offers two horseshoe bays both with stretches of golden sands and plenty of amusements and activities; which are ideal for the perfect family holiday.

All along the coast visitors will be able to find a contrast of family friendly resorts and quieter little fishing ports which, all in all, offers something for everyone.

Whitby

With a whole range of things to do in Whitby there is something for everyone. From fishing to walking, sampling the speciality sea food or testing the local beers. Whilst enjoying the beach, why not take a coastal cruise as this is the best way to see the beautiful coastline. Whitby Museum and Whitby Abbey are also local attractions that should not be missed! After exploring everything that Whitby has to offer, there is nothing better than tasting some of the local fish and chips! As you walk around the town or drive around the area you'll see places made famous through the long-running TV series "Heartbeat" and "The Royal".

Robin Hoods Bay is a delightful village near Whitby that offers a variety of good pubs and eateries. It also offers a rocky beach with a great place to search for fossils. The Robin Hoods Bay and Fylingdales Museum is perfect for those who love to gather historical knowledge as it offers many different displays. Horse riding is an absolute must within Robin Hoods Bay as an enjoyable experience for the whole family with a choice of beach, moor and rail path rides to suit all abilities. From this area, you can also see right along the coastal line and on a clear and sunny day, it is a beautiful place to be.

The North York Moors is also a great place to visit as it offers plenty of different types of activities. There are many different types of walks to choose from that situate within this National Park. Guided walks are also available and dedicated routes for people walking with dogs. A variety of cycling routes are also found that range in difficulty to suit all abilities. There is a huge list of different outdoor activities that can be enjoyed on the North York Moors such as water sports, horse riding, motor sports and air sports – which are just to name a few! For those who prefer to take in sights and history in a slightly different fashion, there are also a huge variety of attractions to suit you. There are plenty of museums such as Captain Cook Memorial Museum and Farming Flashback where you can observe farming machinery. Other attractions include Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo, Staintondale Shire horse Farm and Scarborough Sea life and Marine Sanctuary.

We provide a holiday pack with the apartment which provides information on almost all local attractions and also provides details of pubs and restaurants with menus to help you choose. See the feedback on the owners website as a testament to the thought and work put into creating this to help you enjoy your stay to the maximum !
