"Comfortable, clean and well-equipped!"
We booked three nights with friends and found Awd Tuts cottage to be just what we were looking for. The owner furnished us with explicit information prior to our arrival and had prepared a visitors' manual which was exceedingly helpful. The booking process was extremely easy as was entry to the cottage on our arrival.

"Awt Tuts - A Charming Whitby Holiday Cottage"
A charming little hidden cottage halfway down one of the many narrow alleys in the centre of the delightful town of Whitby. A few yards each way and you are either on the waters edge by a small beach in the harbour or in the hustle and bustle of the popular cobbled area of Church Street. A lovely and picturesque part of town with an array of various small shops, pubs and eateries leading up to Whitby Abbey and it's infamous 199 steps. The location couldn't be better and the cottage is cosy and ideal for a small group or family.
We did find a couple of items not working which we reported to the owner - we met him on our departure as he arrived to do some renovation work in the cottage, so was able to rectify the faults at the same time. A very nice man - he even gave us a lift to the car with our luggage which saved us some time and hassle! Would definitely consider booking in the future and recommending to friends.
Glad you enjoyed your stay. We don't often meet all of our guests and so on this occasion it was nice to meet you all. Hope to see you again some time. Many regards, Mike.

"Great place, great location"
We booked 'auld tuts' for a 4 day break and were very pleased with the cottage and the price and the location. It's only yards away from the abbey steps and centrally located to enjoy the delights of whitby. There are plenty of places to eat (humble pie and the magpie are a must) and plenty of things to do both within whitby and the surrounding area ( even in march). Would definitely book again. On the down side, there is a bit of noise on a night from the sailing club opposite, but did'nt effect us at all. All in all a great little cottage a fantastic location and whitby is an outstanding tourist area.
Thanks for booking with Awd Tuts. Glad you enjoyed yourselves. There's always plenty to do in Whitby and there's always a never ending programme of events throughout the year.

Many thanks for your positive review of both our holiday cottages. Not many people have stayed in both and to stay in the two of them, pretty much 'back to back' is a first for us.
We don't know which one you enjoyed most but glad you definately enjoyed both.
It;s probably a good way of getting the dates you want and a 'two centre' stay at the same time.
Thanks again for the nice review

"Very clean cottage in prime location"
We arrived late-ish at night but that was no problem as the owner had left the key in a keysafe with our unique number for access.
The cottage was warm as we entered, homely and inviting. We were both going to go out for a late drink but noticed a wine rack just inside the door with full bottles of white and red in it. At this point, easily enticed, we both decided to stay in instead and helped ourselves to what was a really nice bottle of red wine. The wine actually is for sale but it's only £5 per bottle which the owner said is mainly for people like us who come late although anyone can drink it and simply leave payment in an 'honesty box' left out on the worktop. It was actually a very good wine so don't know how £5 really covered the cost?
There are two double bedrooms and the top one that we used has an ensuite with a big walk in shower.
The whole cottage was clean and tidy and had a nice feel about it. The double bedroom below is right across from the main bathroom which has a jacuzzi bath in it.
We liked the large flat screen TV in the lounge and there was lots of SKY channels to view. Plenty for us easily.
There is a kitchen adjoining the lounge with normal kitcheny type things in it. We actually ate out each night but had we cooked instead, everything we probably needed looked like it was there.
We took some spare cottage business cards home with us to give to friends as this is a place we'll no doubt use again and might even come with friends next time too. To sum up, a nice enjoyable stay in a quaint old cottage right in the heart of Whitby's old town.
Thank you for taking the time to put on a nice review of Awd Tuts Holiday Cottage. We are glad that all went well and you enjoyed your time with us.
We're also glad you enjoyed our wine. Many people who arrive late usually enjoy the wine we buy and without exeption they are all good quality wines too.
We have special offers on in both cottages at the time of this review so hopefully anyone interested, reading this, may decide to take us up on one?
Please see the link to our own website for details.

"Excellent location but with the odd tut here and there"
Situated in Whitby's Old Town, you're right in the heart of things with Awd Tut's Cottage. It can, as a result, be a little noisy but that didn't bother us.If you know Whitby, then… More
Many thanks for this review. We have mixed feelings on this one as it's not good bit it's also not bad!
The guests gave us a rating of 4/5 which therefore makes us believe that we hopefully have things more right than wrong.
To be fair, we do advertise the cottage as what it originally intended to be. That is a Grade two listed, ex fishermans cottage, built in 1640 and around the time Charles 1st was beheaded.
The cottage is just as described, a quaint, 4 storey dwelling with oak beams and 'olde worlde character'. We usually get booked because of the type, age of cottage and our pretty good location right by the harbour.
We do endeavour to get a good cross section of reviews. This gives everyone the ability to make a well informed choice of whether or not to book with us.
We hope people do want to stay and also hope that they want to come back again.
