BookThe Northern England / Yorkshire/Yorkshire Dales region
Welcome to a whole lot more going on! Yorkshire is second to none. We have beautiful coastline, fantastic countryside, and stunning locations to visit, delicious food and fabulous culture. All that plus warm and welcoming people.
The Whitby / Ruswarp area
Step back in time and experience their beautiful architecture, fascinating attractions and warm hospitality in Whitby.
High on a cliff above the Yorkshire seaside town of Whitby are the gaunt, imposing remains of Whitby Abbey. Whitby is dominated by the cliff-top ruins of the beautiful 13th century Whitby Abbey. This traditional maritime town, with its old cobbled streets, picturesque houses and sandy blue flag beach is a great place for a holiday or short break.
Whitby is set among fine stretches of coast with spectacular cliffs, beaches and bays. A selection of diverse attractions includes the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Victorian Jet Works, the Dracula Experience, Pannett Park and Whitby Museum, with cabinets of curiosities from geology to jet carving, bird life to bygones and costumes to clocks.
Should you be artistic, adventurous or passionate about water sports and wildlife and nature? We have something for all.
The area also has a host of very good restaurants and lovely pubs, where you can enjoy the local ale, and of course, the famous fish and chips which can’t be beaten.

We had such a wonderful stay in this cosy comfortable cottage. There was everything we needed. The whole cottage was so clean. The owner of the Danby Cottage was so helpful. She arranged an early arrival time, as we where going to a wedding. We left my daughter,s hair straightner's behind. They where posted to me at no cost to myself. I know it has nothing to do with the overall stay at the cottage. I just feel that when the owner goes that bit further for you, then you get an idea how special they want to make your stay in the cottage. We had small children in our party. Who loved the freedom of being able to play outside. I would recommend this cottage to anyone. |

Excellently equipped cottage in a beautiful location. The cottage is wonderfully comfortable and it never felt overcrowded even with 3 adults and 3 children. A problem with the drains was cleared up quickly and efficiently by the owners and didn't impact on our stay at all. A car is necessary as the climb to the cottage is very steep but we discovered the 'secret' way cutting through the rear of mini monsters (well worth a visit if you have kids). Butchers in Ruswarp well worth a visit. All in all a lovely place to stay and we will probably be back! |

We hired both Danby and Goathland cottages for a week and they were perfect for our large family group. Location was great.. only 20 min walk to Whitby. Ruswarp is great. Rowing on the river at the bottom of the driveway was a big hit with all the family. The surrounding farmland and sheep are lovely. The cottages were well equipped and large enough for our 8 adults, 4 kids and 2 babies. |
