"Very comfortable and ample space for a large group + dog."
I rented this large cottage to be near my grown up children over Christmas, and to have somewhere spacious enough for us all to spend time together over the holiday period. The cottage had been imaginatively converted and with four bedrooms plus separate bathroom and shower room, everyone could usually have access to washing facilities etc, when they wanted. The cottage was comfortable and warm, even though it was mid winter. There is a 24 hour Tesco nearby so could get all the basics we needed without having to use too much valuable time shopping, and of course convenient if we suddenly ran out of something we needed.
It was great for me as I could take my dog with me, although having a shared terrace garden with the next door rental cottage was not as useful as I had hoped. I have a young, large, boisterous and over-friendly dog, so couldn't really made use of the garden area in case she was an unwelcome intrusion on the neighbours. Although there is plenty of countryside around, the limited hours of daylight at that time of year did make it difficult to walk the dog after about 4 in the afternoon.
The one reason I would be unlikely to stay here again was difficulty with communication. The mobile phone signal was very poor and wifi is not provided, so trying to make on the spot arrangements was difficult. I was not there for a 'get away from it all' holiday, rather a relocation for the week so I could be with my family, so I found this very inconvenient. It would not be good for someone wanting to be in the locality on business, or needing to stay in touch with home or work. Of course this may have changed since my stay, so I suggest you check with the owners before booking if this important to you.
One really nice touch was that the cottage had been decorated throughout, complete with 6ft christmas tree, baubles and lights. I have stayed in other places at Christmas where all that was provided was an 18inch fake tree with a string of tinsel.
I would stay again, but would probably appreciate it more if it was in summer time. Also would want to have a wifi connection.
thank you for your kind comments. Wifi is now available in the Cottage.

"Easy to get to yet a great place to get away"
Felton Brook Cottage is an ideal getaway location in Derbyshire and the owners are very welcoming whilst remaining unobtrusive. The property is ideal for families, for meeting up with friends or relatives from other parts of the country or just for countryside lovers and they are also pet-friendly. The books, games, local information leaflets and the genius idea of a pool table provide useful distractions when you are 'not going out'. All you need is Lee Mack to pop round...
