The Dorset region
As the waves crash against the rocks along the dramatic coastline of Portland, you can see why this forms part of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. For real peace and tranquility, even at peak season, explore the quarries, coastal path walks as well as the many quiet and secluded coves and beaches. Weymouth, in contrast, is home to a safe clean sheltered family beach with three miles of level promenade, providing access to the beach, Town Centre, Harbour and Country Park.
Weymouth and the surrounding area in Dorset provides endless activities. Here are a few examples extracted from the local press:
Weymouth & Portland Sailing Events - Situated on the finest small boat sailing waters in northern Europe, Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy has been confirmed as the official venue for the Olympic Sailing events in 2012.
Weymouth Golf course is just 1.3 miles down the road: A beautiful parkland course with views over the Dorset coast and countryside. The feature of Weymouth golf course, which is bound to strike the golfing visitor before any other is the magnificence of its situation. It is situated in the heart of Weymouth town. "What more could you ask for"
This propery is very well situated. It's far enough from the town to be nice and quiet and yet such a short walk to all you could wish for. There is a lovely walk along the coast in either direction so no complaints on location. There's a fish & chip shop and a chinese takeaway (which was lovely by the way) less than a 5 min walk....there's plenty of pubs within a 5 minute walk too. The shops in Weymouth were a little bit further but still an easy walk away. The meal at Nothe Tavern was excellent. Nothe Fort is so close, and the walk there was lovely through the park - we were greeted with friendly squirrels all the way. And definitely no complaints about the house. There seemed to be every amenity available and much more. I can't think of anything that you'd need that wasn't there. Plenty of beds, pillows, heaters if needed, well equiped kitchen. The instructions given were clear and easy to follow and everything was handled marvellously - thank you. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.
Thanks you, so glad all went well for you :)

"Excellent location and excellent accommodation."
The property location was excellent, being 5 mins walk from the Brewers Quay. The beach is a bit more of a trek as you have to go over the town bridge. There is a lovely walk through the Nothe gardens… More
How come you didn't take the row boat to the beach as I suggested in the list of 'tips' I sent you? Such a great way to get to and from the sandy beach :) As for an extra stair gate.....it's a good point but we feel the stair gate is easily moved and we do supply so much in our house in order to make our guests as comfortable as possible it's just impossible to supply absolutely everything all the time to everybody :) If someone offers me a stair gate they're no longer using I'd definitely snap it up and put it at Tides for future guests :)

"Good location and comfortable accommodation"
The property is set in a convenient quiet location for walking into the harbour and town. It is also a dog walkers paradise where dogs are often let loose, so beware with small children. I am a dog … More
Tides is in such a good location that people do like to visit the green and walk along the lovely promenade of Newtons Cove. Generally most people are really good about their dogs but unfortunately you will always get one or two that aren't, wherever you go! I do not allow tenants to bring dogs to Tides.

"Fine property, conveniently situated, excellent facilities."
The house is attractive, outside and in, and has a fresh, nearly-new, bright appearance. The garden is pleasant and secluded. The house has all the necessary facilities, plus games & a nice selection of DVDs. A one minute walk and you are looking out to sea and Portland. A five minute walk will take you to the harbour (8 mins back!). The beach and main shopping area are perhaps 10 minutes further on. I personally loved the living room with its large round-the -corner table. Ideal for writing & games. No towel provision was the only inconvenience - we forgot to take ours with us! All in all a lovely holiday home.

We strongly recommend this holiday home - it is clean, comfortable, very well-equipped with lots of thoughtful touches ( masses of games & DVds for children - and adults ). The owners are very helpful and you can tell they want you to love this house as much as they do..Newton cove is on your doorstep and the Harbour & beach ten minutes away. Weymouth offers family fun, fascinating history, stunning views and a chance to relax - you won't want to leave !
