The West Country region

Dorset on the south coast of England, generally boast a slightyly warmer climate in England. With its world famous jurrasic coast line which stretches for 153 kilometers between Studland and Exmouth in Devon, there a places that are of natural outstanding beauty.

Dorsets climate comprises of warm summers and mild winters due to the position on the British South Coast

.Dorset is a county for all seasons, it has so much to offer, and with it's mild south coast climate, world heritage coastline, pretty villages and unspoilt countryside we're sure you'll enjoy your stay.

There are hundreds of breathtaking walks, plenty of historical sites and buildings, lots of fun for all the family and countless activities at your finger tips. We are just 3 miles away from the popular seaside resort of Weymouth beach with an expanse of golden sand and shallow water its one of the best beaches along the south coast. Clean safe and fantastic for children with its traditional seaside entertainment such as donkey rides, swing boats and Punch and Judy.

The harbour is a bustling active fishing port. With various pubs and restaurants giving an alfresco feel. Eating out can range from fish and chips to a la carte.

Across the causeway to Portland with its historical light house and Olymipic sailing academy. There's diving, fishing and many other water sports. Even if its not your thing to partake in watersports it makes great viewing, from kite surfing to sailing

The village of Abbostbury is also a short drive away with its famous swannery and sub tropical gardens.

The county town Dorchester home of Thomas Hardy is only 8 miles north.

If you fancy exploring our lovely Dorset county you may enjoy driving the spectaluar coast road with its stunning views. Stopping off at postcard villages such as Broadchurch- West Bay, Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Durdle Door & Swanage are just a few. There are many glorious beauty spots, historical places of interest along our Jurassic coast line.

"Lovely accommodation, well equipped, welcoming."

We stayed at the Stables. Sarah greeted us warmly on arrival, letting us in through the remote control secure gates. We were given a fob or could use the keypad to let ourselves in & out during our stay.
The Stables is well equipped with all you need, it's clean & tidy with excellent facilities for the disabled. The bathrooms with the monsoon showers are fantastic. The kitchen has all you would expect from good self catering accommodation, with plenty of cupboard space for food (I have been to some places where they have thought of everything except a space for food storage!). There is a Morrisons and an ASDA a short drive away plus there is a local shop within walking distance.
A couple of things would have made it a 5* like an up to date flat screen TV & WiFi really is a must these days.
All in all a good location, easy to get to places like Portland Bill with a fantastic view along Chesil Beach, Lulworth Cove with Durdle Door is well worth a visit.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Wifi is our next improvement plan.

"Great Location for Seeing Dorset"

The property itself is really nice - clean, well equipped and comfortable with great views from the upstairs lounge over to the fleet lagoon. We were especially taken with the upstairs lounge (there is a downstairs one too) which was something we had never experienced. Just watch your head on the ceilings (took me a week to get used to it - ouch!).
The location is great for touring Dorset. Either east - towards Lyme & WestBay, or west - towards Lulworth & Swanage. With the weather good we spent most time on the coast path. Weymouth & Portland are worth a look as well. Easy to get out to the roads from, there is a bit of traffic noise but wasn't disturbing us unduly.
We'd certainly consider this again next time we holiday down here.
Enjoy !
